A Tribute to Late Mr. Shammi Kapoor….You will be missed!!

Bollywood Industry lost yet another veteran actor Mr. Shammi Kapoor, as he breathed his last today in Mumbai. He was 79 years old. As the lyrics of his song suggests, his fans will never be able to erase his memories from their hearts.

Shammi Kapoor, the son of late Prithviraj Kapoor & the brother of late Raj Kapoor & Shashi Kapoor, was one of the finest & the most versatile actor of his times. He debuted in Bollywood in 1953 and in no time became the heartthrob of millions. His good looks, brilliant acting & unique dance style made him extremely popular among women. He was one actor of his times who never had any hiccups when paired with new faces like Sharmila Tagore, Asha Parekh & Saira Banu who later became popular names in the industry.


As a lead he delivered several hits like Tumsa Nahin Dekha, Dil Deke Dekho, Junglee, Dil Tera Deewana, Professor, China Gate, Rajkumar, Kashmir Ki Kali, Janwar, Teesri Manzil, An Evening in Paris, Bramhachari & Andaz. 

His movies also had the best of music. Shammi Kapoor chose late Mr. Mohammed Rafi as his playback voice. Some of the songs have gone down in history as classics. Who can ever forget the songs like aaja aaja & o mere sona re from Teesri Manzil, Ehsaan tera hoga mujhpar & chahe koi mujhe junglee kahe from the movie Junglee, Yeh chand sa roshan chehra from Kashmir ki Kali so on & so forth. He dominated the industry until the late 60’s. He also played character roles in movies like Betaab, Vidhata, Rocky, Hero, Prem-Rog etc. 

Shammi Kapoor received several awards & accolades for his brilliance in acting & his contribution to the Bollywood Film Industry.

    His energy will continue to help up withstand the days where we hit rock-bottom- a smile, a song, that lovely expression of his eyes- those dance moves- the passion in his acting- wherever he is- he will definitely look upon us and smile...wish I had even a fraction of that energy.
    With him going...it's a part of my childhood gone..
    may his soul RIP
