Mohit's Interview with Rangmunch.TV....

Rangmunch.tv: How have you been Mohit, and what have you been doing currently?

Mohit: Hi...well, have been enjoying myself very much, lot of time to myself...went to Delhi, meeting lot of people and looking forward to some interesting concept so that I am back on the screen.

Rangmunch.tv: After setting such high standards for "Samrat” ...now what are you looking for in particular?

Mohit: Well, sometimes I don’t fit the role or sometimes there is a budget constraint but hoping for something soon to materialize.

Rangmunch.tv: So you must be getting a lot of messages from your fans as they are waiting eagerly to see you back?

Mohit: Of course! Absolutely... can’t wait to come on air ...

Rangmunch.tv: Alright... Since FRIENDSHIP DAY is coming, let’s start with some fun questions....Who are your best friends or your close friend circle?

Mohit: Well I have a very close friend in Delhi. We went to school together. We are very close. His name is Hitesh. Friends are not very easy to make, and I don't make them very easily as I am on a quieter side. But those I make friends with, I make sure they are the closest to me in every way. He is in Delhi and I miss him a lot.

Rangmunch.tv: Do you believe in the concept of Friendship day?

Mohit: I don't believe there is a particular day to celebrate Friendship day. Any day one could celebrate it. You don't need a day, any day could be Friendship day, just need a day to make it more special.

Rangmunch.tv:  Which is that one movie you can watch again & again with your friends?

Mohit : Maybe earlier the movies were different so one could watch them repeatedly but now different concepts movie are coming so its difficult to name one...but if i had to i would say "Dil Chahata Hai "

Rangmunch.tv: Watch ZNMD....

Mohit: Yes, that was a good film, but I expected a little more from it...maybe more fun elements. I also like Hangover 1 and 2...

Rangmunch.tv: You also did a Hangover type episode in MJHT...

Mohit : Ya, we all were drunk ... and it was a nice episode... I also did something like that in real life too. When we were in 10th standard, all friends went to Missouri and got drunk and then got suspended too...so it was fun but embarrassing too. Its good to look back on such days.

Rangmunch.tv: What’s that one habit of yours that really irritates your friends?

Mohit: I take a lot of time in getting ready and my friends get really annoyed as they have keep waiting for me ...

Rangmunch.tv: So now they come fursat se... Coz you will take that much time ... (smilingly)

Mohit: Yes, now they are used to it... but I am trying to change that habit of mine.

Rangmunch.tv: What is that one thing you can never eat but offer to your friend?

Mohit: I don’t eat Non vegetarian food but can offer it to my friends.

Rangmunch.tv: What is that one food you would not share with your closest friends?

Mohit: I always ask my friends...even if it’s not enough for me but I make sure they are offered first. Even with Sanaya, we at times fight coz we end up offering one another all the time.

Rangmunch.tv: So do u end up eating or not?

Mohit: (laughingly) we divide that part of our food too in half so we both get it.

Rangmunch.tv:
Has your friend ever caught you picking your nose?

Mohit: No...No... (Laughingly)

Rangmunch.tv: If you had to rate your friends in honesty, trust, compatibility ...how would you rate them?

Mohit: They are nice and honest ... but to me they are special. I would rate them 9.

Rangmunch.tv: Do you think its ok to take your friends for granted?

Mohit: No... You should not take anyone for granted.... but if they are very close to you, one does take that person for granted... kabhi kabhi chalta hai... but I don't think one should take friends for granted.

Rangmunch.tv: What is one annoying habit of your friend you would want to change ?

Mohit: I have one best friend and nothing is annoying about him. He is very sweet.

Rangmunch.tv: Who makes a better best friend... a girl or a boy?

Mohit: A guy... I am a very introvert person...so I had no girls as friends...slowly I opened up when I came to Bombay ... Actually it took me 2-3 months to talk properly to Sanaya even.

Rangmunch.tv: Which one holds true in your case " Pyaar dosti hai " ya  "Dosti  pyaar hai?"

Mohit: I think Dosti Pyaar hai... we became friends first and then fell in love.

Rangmunch.tv:
Mohit, if you had to break a news ...good or bad, who would you call first?

Mohit: I think its Sanaya and my best friend...

Rangmunch.tv: Now that Sanaya is shooting, you must be getting less time to spend with her now.How do you manage that?

Mohit: We are shopoholics....love to shop...so hit the malls as the Sale season is on.

Rangmunch.tv: What is one thing you never get tired shopping off?

Mohit: Hmmmmm... I love shopping... but I love to buy watches, and colognes...Sanaya tries to stop me and when she is not around, I pick it up (laughingly).

Rangmunch.tv: Why do you think its called Friendship and not Friend-plane or Friend-train?

Mohit: I think everyone has seen Titanic so much that they have started calling it Friendship and not train or plane... eternal love and all...even when couples have to strike a pose, they do it the Titanic way.

Rangmunch.tv: How far would you go for a friend?

Mohit: Anywhere...

Rangmunch.tv: “A friend in need is a friend in deed"

Mohit: It’s true. Your friends help you at the time of need, so you do the same...that’s what friends are for.

Rangmunch.tv: One message you would like to give to Sanaya on Friendship day?

Mohit: If People want to learn how to be in friendship, one should learn from Sanaya.

Rangmunch.tv: One message for your fans ...

Mohit:  I am gonna be back real soon on the screen ... just having to wait a little more ...

Parichay - Nayee Zindagi Key Sapno Ka

“Aaina mujhse meri pehli si surat maange,
mere apne mere hone ki nishani maange”

These are the lines of a beautiful song from the movie “Daddy”, the debut film of Pooja Bhatt & directed by Mahesh Bhatt. But hey wait a minute; I am not going to talk about the Bhatt clan & nor about the movie. I penned down those lines as I felt they blend well with my topic of discussion.

Today I would like to draw your attention to the launch of a new show on Colors’ channel named “Parichay – nayee zindagi key sapno ka” starring Sameer Soni who is essaying the character of Kunal Chopra & is the male protagonist of the show. Sameer Soni is quite a popular face both on Big & Small Screen. He has acted in several movies like China Gate, Baghban, Fashion, I hate Luv Storys & was also seen on Television shows like Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi & Big Boss Season 4.

As the title suggests, Parichay means Introduction…. an Introduction to a New Life, a New Horizon. The promos of this show are intriguing & have caught my attention from day one. They are not only shot beautifully in various locales of Mumbai but have also been thought provoking. Every promo gives an insight about the male protagonist Kunal Chopra & his philosophy towards life & helps me connect with the character. One promo that has touched me the most is where the Protagonist says that if relationships came with a lifetime guarantee, then every individual would think twice before getting into one. Sad but very true isn’t it?

The promos aired so far, portrays Kunal Chopra as a failure & loser according to our social norms. Kunal is looked down upon & disregarded by his loved ones because he has not been able to live up to their expectations & prove himself as a perfect & successful individual. However I also feel that Kunal Chopra as a character has more than what meets the eye. He comes across as a Man with a “Vision” & “self belief” who probably lives life on his own terms. Will Kunal Chopra, the Protagonist, successfully inspire all the individuals in the real world with his attitude & viewpoints towards life? I guess this will get answered once the show is launched & the story unfolds.

I am eagerly looking forward to the launch of “Parichay – Nayee Zindagi Ke Sapno Ka” on 9th of August at 9.30pm on Colors’ channel &  hoping that the makers through their story telling will be able to establish this saying ….. “A man can be destroyed but not defeated” ~ Ernest Hemingway.

Rangmunch.TV wishes the entire Cast & Crew of  "Parichay" all the very best!!!!!

Truth ……..Better OR Bitter!!!!

As the weekend sets in, it’s a perfect time to re-visit the various events that have been highlighted on our favourite shows. This week most of the shows have gone through some major high points, vital revelations, which have brought all the stories to a crucial juncture leaving all viewers anxious for the forth coming week.

Geet Hui Sabse Parayi

“I might not get to see you as often as I’d like, I may not get to hold you in my arms at night, but deep in my heart I know that it’s true. No matter what happens….I will always love you.” ~Anon

Nayantara is back with her evil plans & today we got a glimpse of her destructive mind, as she succeeds in creating a further rift in Maaneet’s relationship. Maan who was oblivious to Geet’s identity is suddenly exposed to the truth & reacts vehemently. Maan in his mode of denial goes ahead and humiliates Geet not realizing that he is actually demeaning himself & his wife in real. But the beauty of today’s episode is that even though the viewers may hate Maan for his rudeness, but his Geet still loves him. She knows & understands her Maan way better than any one of us. Geet knows that Maan can never hurt her even in his wildest dreams but the irony is, her Maan no longer remembers her. But as much as Geet loves & understands her Maan, she is unable to forget how much he valued his relationship & marriage with Geet. She cannot let anyone question her Ma(a)n, not even the ignorant Maan himself & therefore succumbed to the situation & decided to leave.

So will Maan eventually stop Geet from leaving & accept her? Will Dev be able to stop a vindictive Nayantara from causing any further destruction in their lives? Will Nandini get to know what’s bothering Dev?

Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon

Its now revealed that Shyam is Anjali’s husband. One feels sorry to see that someone as sweet as Anjali, is slowly heading towards a severe heart-break. Shyam is not only a smooth talker but is a complete charmer who has spell bound not only the entire Raizada family but also Arnav Singh Raizada. Even Buaji misses Shyam in his absence while Khushi & Payal considers him to be their friend & confidante. Despite the fact that Shyam is married to Anjali, he still pursues his love for Khushi. He cannot see Anjali sad, but he cannot stop himself from loving Khushi either. He justifies as he believes he is not making anyone sad in the bargain. He is extremely manipulative & intelligently manages to balance both these worlds without raising an inch of doubt on either side.

Will Shyam turn into an obsessed lover? Will Khushi get to know Shyam’s real identity? Will Arnav find out about Shyam & his love for Khushi?

Navya

Both Navya & Anant have been basking in their new found love. However the truth about their relationship is now revealed to Navya’s elder sister Renuka & her mother. Though Renuka has been supportive towards her sister, but her mother is definitely angry & upset with this revelation. As much as Navya wanted to disclose the truth to her mother, she is now upset that her mom found out about Anant before she could explain things to her. On the other hand Anant’s brother gets to know about Rama’s conspiracy behind organising the get-together & inviting Navya.

Will Navya be able to explain things to her mother? Will Navya’s mother stand by her or will she disclose this truth to the rest of the family? Will this revelation impact Navya’s relationship with Anant? Will Anant get to know about his Bhabhi’s malicious motive?

Sasural Simar Ka

Simar’s marriage turned into Roli’s nightmare. Roli pays a very heavy price in trying to help Simar pursue her dreams. On the day of the marriage while Simar goes for her dance show, she leaves Roli behind in the bride's attire to disguise herself as Simar till she returned. However destiny plays foul & Roli is forced into the wedding rituals. When Simar gets back home, she sees her younger sister Roli taking the marriage vows with Prem. While the whole world thinks its Simar & Prem who are now married, Simar is shattered with the thought of deceiving her loved ones & for ruining her sister's life.

Will Simar tell the truth to Prem? Will Prem be able to forgive Simar? Will Roli be able to accept Prem as her brother–in-law? Will the story turn into a love triangle?

Gulaal

Sometimes we try to hide a bitter truth to save our loved ones from getting shattered but in the bargain land up hurting them the most. We witnessed a similar thing in Gulaal this week.

Gulaal hid the truth about Vasant’s murder from her in-laws coz she thought after Vasant’s murder, they will be further devastated if they got to know that the murderer was none other than Dushyant, his cousin brother. It was the toughest choice Gulaal had made for the well being of her family. But to her dismay, finally when the truth is out in the open, the entire family has turned their back on her for keeping them away from reality. The women of the family even went to the extent of questioning her character. Seeing so much of hatred in the eyes of those she loved the most, Gulaal must have died a thousand times. Gulaal never thought that she would have to pay such a heavy price for doing something with good intentions.

Will Gulaal circum to all the hatred from her dear ones or will she be able to explain her stand to them? Will Kesar be able to help Gulaal in winning back the trust of his family? Will Gulaal eventually acknowledge Kesar’s love for her?

So in the forth coming week we will get to see & realise if the revelations were really BETTER or BITTER as the story unfolds.

Dosti ki Hai nibhaani to Padegi

Tele-land has its own ways of celebrating life. They magnify, glorify and they exemplify. With Friendship day approaching this Sunday, we thought we should take a look at some of the stories that have gone on to become a huge rage with the audience when it comes to friendship.

Navya and Gang: Navya

Star Plus's Show Navya depicts the dilemma of todays girl in a city, where is she always dodging between her family and friends. While her family represents values, traditions and beliefs, her friends represent her dreams, her desires and aspirations that are untapped and unexplored. Appy and Ritz have always stuck by Navya and they are easy to relate to considering they easily remind you of your own comfort circle. They are critical of her yet they support her, they back her up, and they also cover up for her. They also play cupids in Navya's love story with Anant.

While this is the case with Navya, Anant her lover has his own best friend Ranbir who is ever sweet and understanding. Ranbir represents that confidante you could turn to at anytime.

As a gang of five Navya, Anant, Appy, Ritz and Ranbir represent today and friendships of today's times. Here's to their friendship.

Manjari and Akshay: Yeh Ishq Haaye

He saw her fall in love with his young brother, was heart broken, but chose to support her. When her family abandoned her he supported her, when she moved to the city he accompanied her. Akshay and Manjari have never had it easy when it has come to their relationship. But through their ups and downs they have always remained friends. Today, as the show is all set to wrap up, we are about to witness how a relationship has bloomed and blossomed from friendship to love. Its a perfect end to a story.

Badi Ma and Suhana: Sasuraal Genda Phool

Suhana, is a spoilt brat. But when she walked into the simple middle class Kashyap household she didnt know better. But had it not been for Badi Ma who supported her, understood her and accommodated her, Suhana would have perhaps never learnt. Though the two share almost a mother daughter relationship, the foundation of their relationship has always been friendship. Here's to this mother- daughter-Friends Combo!

Kesar and Gulaal:  Gulaal

Can age ever be barricade to friendships? When Gulaal was married to Vasant, Kesar was just a kid, but they always got along famously. However, with the passing off time with Vasant dying and Gulaal being forced to marry young Kesar the dynamics of their relationship changed. With all the turmoil in their life, they have time and again fallen back on their friendship as the strongest support system of their relationship. We see Gulaal staying away from Kesar for obvious reasons but she definitely cant ignore him and that is mainly because they have been friends first. Today Kesar loves her. He wants to win over her and the only reason why Gulaal cant snap ties with the man, besides family obligations is also their friendship.

Rang Badalti Odhani:

Though the show recently ended, it finds its mention here because the show in general has always been a friendly show with friendly relation between its members. Be it Father-Son, Husband-Wife,or even two friends. The show did focus on a friendship track where ego draws two close friends apart only to bring them back together. Even Shaan and Khanak had started off being friends first before they fell in love.  Its a lesson well learnt, once a friend always a friend.  This tried and tested formula never fails since it stems from the heart. You may fight, you may hate but the emotion always stays strong since you are tied together by the bond.

Ram and Vikram: Bade Acche Lagte Hai

Sony's latest offing Bade Acche lagte hai, is the story of a sauve business man in his early forties and a middle aged girl Priya from a simple background. While how they meet and get married is another story, Ram's friend Vikram is his constant support system encouraging his friend to get married, have a life of his own and also advising him. Ram respects Vikram and also listens to him. Goes to show every strong individual has weak spot and for Ram its his friendship with Vikram, apart from his own family.

So now we know, why we love our shows and are so addicted to them. The TV world has always been kind to friends and friendships on behalf of Rangmunch.tv

Gautam Hegde on: Iss Pyaar ko Kyaa Naam doon and Saath Nibhana Saathiya

Writer Gautam Hedge has many hit shows to his credit. If you are hard core romantic and love watching the leads falling in love and look forward to their moments together, then there is no way you haven't watched Gautam's shows. Lets kill your curiosity and tell you a little more about this writer. Miley Jab Hum Tum, Santaan, Love Ne Mila Di Jodi, Geet Hui Sabse Parayi have all had Gautam's contribution in them.

He is currently working on three shows Saath Nibhaana Saathiya, Iss Pyaar ko kya naam doon?  and Sapno se bhare Naina on Star Plus as the screenplay writer. Despite his busy working schedule, he made it a point to write back to us as he had promised us an interview.

As we read, we became audience ourselves, and totally enjoyed the interview. I hope you will too!

1. The promos say “Gopi ab padhne chali and you are given a time period to build a certain track. As  screenplay writer what are the elements that you would add from your side?

From a broad story POV, it was always decided that Gopi will always get educated. When the time came to start it, the entire creative team had a channel meeting on how we have to take this track ahead. As a screenplay writer, one has to make sure the story writer’s idea gets fleshed out and flows well in the episode, with the right amount of graphing, in terms of movement, emotion and growth.

2. As the screenplay writer can you tell us, one particular scene/sequence you have added in the recent few episodes, that wasn't in the original story that was handed to you, but you felt would add  value in the story.

Me and my co writer Jyoti Tandon always work on the stories and try squeezing in an odd romantic moment between Ahem and Gopi- or even a Gopi moment with Kanha ji. The beauty of Gopi lies in her innocence. Her vulnerability, her faith, her positivity makes you feel for her. When that meets Ahem’s tough guy act, it gives us a moment that brings a smile.

3.  Do you feel sandwiched between a story and a dialogue writer as you think you might have  a very limited scope to improvise? How much % of what you write gets translated on screen?

Ha ha ha! Not at all. We don’t feel sandwiched. With Saathiya, the execution always adds chaar chaand to what one has written, sometimes surprising us, because they take it one step ahead.

4.  Iss Pyaar ko kya naam doon, as opposed to Saathiya has the makings of an intense love story. How do you ensure through your writing that there is latent chemistry between the leads though there is not much of direct interaction between the two?

The fun in IPK is that even when they are not together, they are still together, in each other’s thoughts. And when they are together, they don’t want to be together. Its that I hate you (like I Love You) phase right now. It’s the most exciting phase of romance I feel.

5. Women hate to love Arnav and his coldness, while writing his scenes, how do you know what to write for Arnav? How do you balance between making him look brutal yet vulnerable?

Arnav has a troubled past that has made him what he is. He has become cold to people who are not a part of his world or his ideologies. If you see how much he cares for his didi, you feel he is such a sweetheart. he may say he cares a damn but he is always affected- he cares for his plants... he is fond of gardening. He is like those plants, they cant express themselves, but they still have a life. They are just like him- he cant express freely. Also, we are lucky to have gotten Barun to play ASR. His eyes are superbly intense.

6. As a person how much do you believe in the phrase “Nafrat paas aane na de, Mohabbat door jaane na de "

Totally. It’s so romantic. Imagine being attracted to someone whose face you don’t want to see. You cant get that person off your head. Worse, such opposites, she’s full of life, he’s reserved, she believes in God, he is an atheist, she loves jalebis, he is a diabetic. Aah, I love them more again!

7. What is that you like about the character of Khushi? How do you get into the skin of a female character while being a male writing scenes?

Khushi started getting more and more clearer as we kept writing her. She is so full of life. It was Gul (producer Gul Khan)’s idea that she cooks when she is stressed. She is someone who is scared, but still musters courage because she knows Devi Maiyya is with her. She is so clumsy and ends up goofing around. She is not miss perfect. I liked these 2 lines the dialogue writer Hitesh Kewalya wrote- Di, ek jawaab ke saath do sawaal mere liye muft kyun aate hai/ and har problem pe Khushi Kumari Gupta ka naam kyun likha hota hai...’ I think that pretty much sums up how she is. Our darling Chamkeeli!

8. How different is writing a Starplus show from that of writing a StarOne show?

On Star One, when I wrote for Miley Jab Hum Tum and Love Ne Mila Di Jodi, the audience wss primarily young. on Star Plus, the catered age group is wider. There are young and old ones both. So, our drama cant be all yuppie and it cannot only be candy floss romance. We need to have family drama too.

9. Would you write a scene, if you are personally not convinced with the way its being executed? Has it ever happened that you have pictured a scene in a particular way in your head but the outcome has been totally the opposite ( this could mean good or bad)

I have been pleasantly surprised with IPK a lot of times recently with their execution. On the dialogue level and on the set, the creative team- Megha, Anand, Gul- add a lot of nuances that take it a notch up. To answer the first part of your question, while writing if I have my doubts, I always clarify and we come up with a solution that’s mutually agreed upon.

10. Do you read fan-fiction story on the various fan sites ? Would parallel stories running in the minds of fans and on the web alter your thinking process if you were to come across them? If it does, would you incorporate that into a storyline?

I haven’t read these, so wouldn’t be able to comment on this one.

11. A fun question, If Modi household was Hogwarts, Ahem Harry, and Gopi Hermoine, in a hypothetical situation, how would you make them fall in love for a day?

If Ahem is Harry, Gopi cant be Hermoine na? Hermonie kit oh Ron ki hai :P So Jigar will be Ron, Hermoine will be Rashi, Koki will be Voldmort and Gopi will be Ginny! Hang on, I will have to discuss this question with Ms Rowling and get back to you! Until next time...
