Navya:Relate and Relive Emotions!

Soumya Seth and Kshitee Jog as Navya and her mom

Navya's episode last night, had one of the most heart-touching mother daughter sequences on Television in a long time. I was simply moved by the sensitivity of the scene, and how such a small sequence had to so many emotions to show with so little words to say.

Navya whose relationship with Anant is now out in the open in front of her mom, is ready to admit to it in front of her other family members as well. However, her mother steps in at the nick of time and covers up for her. This behavior confuses Navya, as she had earlier invoked her mothers wrath on learning about the affair.

The beauty of the scene was brought out when the close and deep bonding between a mother and daughter was brought to the fore, especially with a true to life performance by Khsitee Jog, who has always shown a natural performance as Navya's mother. The sketching of her character has been so beautiful that any woman or a girl would easily relate to her and her concerns. For once even i was moved to tears as i realised, what if i were in a hypothetical situation like it. Who would i choose? Would i be willing to fight for my love when i know i am hurting and offending my mother so much?
Meeta, after covering up for Navya, takes her into her room, hugs her while the mother and daughter shed a few tears together hugging each other, one begins to wonder if she has melted. Tables turn as Navya is the one who ends up consoling her mother in turn for offending her. This is when Meeta starts of by kissing her daughter, apologizing her for raising a hand on her, lets her know, she is ready to put all this behind them, on one condition that she should now forget Anant and never meet him again. This leaves Navya definitely aghast, but she does abide as she is totally swept by her mothers love for her.

It is not everyday that one gets to see a performance of this kind, as the emotions involved in it were galore.

Hats off to the actors Khsitee Jog and Soumya Seth for bringing it out so beautifully and a thumbs up to the Writers and the Director Ravi Bhushan for having executed it in the most heart-wrenching manner!

Independence: A word or a way of living!!!

There is a lot that has been spoken about independence & freedom at a National level & what one must do to be a good citizen. However, today I would like to talk about my perspective towards independence & freedom.

Independence according to me is ones ability & power to make decisions & the strength to face the consequences of it. We cannot plan our lives but we can live it the way we want to. Hence, for me Independence means rising above hardships & going beyond the obvious.

Anandi of Balika Vadhu
Today I would like to talk about a fictional character that has inspired me & given me a new definition of freedom. This character is none other than Anandi of Balika Vadhu, which is aired on Colors Channel. Anandi has borne the consequences of child marriage & after 16 years, her husband Jagdish fell in love & married another woman & abandoned her.

In such circumstances punishing the culprit is the most obvious & acceptable gesture as per the society. However, Anandi decided to let go off her past & move forward. Initially I refuted her decision, but later when I pondered upon her act, I realized that she actually freed herself of the burden that she was otherwise carrying deep down in her heart.

Letting go DEFINITELY does not mean giving up, but it is about accepting the darker side of life, which is inevitable. Vengeance & hatred are two human emotions, which paralyses an individuals’ ability to think positively & constructively. By choosing to move on, one can actually gain renewed strength & morph the negativity into positive energy.

Independence is a subjective term & is more about personal beliefs, values, ideologies & principles. What we perceive as misfortune in the life of Anandi has actually helped her evolve as an independent woman. She can now take her own decisions without fearing the consequences, fight for what she believes in, pursue her unfulfilled dreams & above all to stand up for herself with dignity.

So as the Independence Day celebration ends, let us make an effort to free ourselves from any bitterness, pain, frustration, fear, insecurities & regrets that rests heavily on our souls. In fact, being able to let go is the greatest gift we can give to ourselves, reach new horizons & be free in the true sense of the word.

Where does their Independence lie?

As India celebrates its 64th Independence Day here are some questions to our audience. We have picked up instances from Television Shows that you watch and love. We look at shows across channels, and tracks running everywhere, that help us prod further into what our perception of freedom is all about. 64 Years down the line, we are only read of the stories of our forefathers and read of the struggles in our text books and movies. However, independence is a very broad term and so we at Rangmunch.TV decided to look at some of the most loved women on TV and what their situation were to be had they been independent of their circumstances.

Yeh Rishta Kya Keh Laata Hai- Star Plus

We have all seen and loved Akshara as the dutiful bahu, beti and wife. She is forever trying to fit into the family making everyone happy. The show believes in magnifying every minute situation in life and presenting it to us in a glorified manner. Be it, the Var Mala not landing in time to Akshara's Saas wanting a baby from Akshara and putting the entire burden on her.
The story, itself began with how Akshara was going to college and her future in-laws had a problem with it. Of course we have come a long way since then, but the story has always been Akshara and her family's expectations and dependence on her. Talking of today's times when every woman is expected to be independent and career oriented would we as audience want to see Akshara as an independent entity?

Geet- Hui Sabse Parayi- StarOne

Everyone we know loves and swears by Maan and Geet's love. She is the angel who turned khadoos Maan Singh Khurana into the sweet husband. Today however Maan has lost his memory. However, while he was still fine, Maan had transferred 51% shares of his Company Khurana Constructions into his wife's name. Post memory loss Maan has failed to even acknowledge Geet or her presence in his life.
There is one school of thought that says Geet  is totally dependent on Maan for everything, and shows total lack of ambition while their love story first began in the office.
There is also another bunch that doesnt care what the story is as long as Maan and Geet are together.
Our question at Rangmunch.TV to you is do you think education, financial independance and a little distance from Maan would make the show and its story any less desirable by the audience while she keeps the love for her Maan intact ?

Bade Acchey Lagte Hai- Sony TV

Priya is now Mrs. Ram Kapoor and how it all happened is an interesting story in itself. A woman of today, with her head held on her shoulders, Priya was the backbone of her family. Whether it was pampering her younger sister, or fulfilling her mothers needs to taking care of her father and his unsaid feelings Priya was the perfect balance.Apart from being all this she is also a TOEFL instructor, who made a decent living for herself. This is mostly for survival. Now with things changing for her financially and personally, and Priya having no need to work as such if she chooses to, do you think, she should put her work life aside and dedicate time to her family? Just because she need not work, does that necessarily mean she should not work?

Dharmapatni- Imagine TV

Imagine's latest offing Dharmapatni is said to the story of a the virtues of a wife and how she supports her husband and her family. For those that have not read about this before here is an insight as to what those qualities are for a woman to be called a pati vrata.

the shloka reads:

Karyeshu dasi; Karaneshu mantri;
Rupecha lakshmi; kshamaya dharitri;
Bhojyeshu mata; sayaneshu vesya;
Shat dharmayukta kuladharma patni.

Kaam kare daasi ki tarah - works like a daasi, and keeps her house clean and free from any impurity.

Karm kare mantri ki tarah - kushal, chalak, witty, advises her husband in life, finances and other fields.

Rupecha Lakshmi - Beautiful and divine as Lakshmi

Kshamaya Dharitri - ever forgiving like the earth such that she that she will embrace you despite you stamping on her and burdening her with your weight and pressures.

Bhojyeshu Maata -  warm and compassionate like a mother when it comes to making food and serving it.

Shayaneshu Rambha - like rambha the apsara (known for her sex) - the best in bed!!!

A woman who fulfills all these qualities is who is supposed to be known as a Dharmapatini. The story is supposed to be loosely based on Mahatma Gandhi and his life. In the light of these six qualities, how many of these qualities do women today relate to and how many of these do not go down well with the sensibilities of women folk today?

We will look forward to getting answers from you.
Happy Independance Day! Jai Hind !

A candid interview of Daljeet aka Anjali of Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon!!!

On the eve of Raksha Bandhan, Daljeet aka Anjali of Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon spoke to Rangmunch.TV & shared her thoughts about the brother-sister bonding both on the show & in real life.

Rangmunch.TV: The bond of Arnav & Anjali is the most talked about onscreen sibling relationship these days. What do you have to say about this?

Daljeet: Ya! I have heard about that. It’s actually very emotional since we are 3 sisters & I don’t have a real brother, so don’t know what it is like to pamper him. I think the kind of relationship Anjali shares with Arnav & the kind of scenes we perform is what makes this brother- sister relationship so popular among viewers. I actually get random calls from viewers saying how much they like seeing Anjali & Arnav together onscreen. Since I do not have a brother in real life, I am fortunate to get an opportunity to emote & experience those emotions on screen. Barun & I also share a beautiful relationship both on-screen as well as off-screen. I am extremely happy to play the character Anjali & emotionally attached to it too.

Rangmunch.TV: What according to you makes a brother & sister relationship unique?

Daljeet: Aah! In my opinion, the only thing that makes any relationship beautiful & long lasting is ‘Honesty’ free from Ego. It is the most important aspect in any relationship be it siblings, husband & wife or even friends. One has to portray honest emotions. Whether it is a complain or a compliment, one should be able to communicate openly in one’s relationship.

Rangmunch.TV: Though you do not have a real brother, is there anyone who you consider your brother & who expects a Rakhee from you every year?

Daljeet: As I said I do not have a real brother & all my cousins lived far away, so never really got the opportunity to grow up together & share the brother sister bonding even though we all loved each other. I have few best friends though with whom I have almost grown up. I do have two such close friends who I consider my brothers…. Pradeep & Mani. In fact, they are more than a brother to me as they had performed all the rituals of a brother for my real wedding.

Rangmunch.TV: Rakhee is a celebration that comes along with the gifts. So what gifts did u get for Rakhee last year?

Daljeet: Oh, yes (laughingly)….I think receiving Gifts is the best part about Rakhee. More than the protection, you want the gifts. After all, we are 21st century girls who can take care of ourselves. I did get some beautiful gifts for Rakhee. In fact, last year Mani had bought me a beautiful jewel from the North & a beautiful bracelet, which I flaunt even today. However, Mani & Pradeep performing the rituals of a brother for my real wedding is the best gift that I could ever get & hence they will always be more than a brother to me.

Rangmunch.TV: What is that one thing Anjali wishes for her brother Arnav on this Raksha Bandhan?

Daljeet: Oh! There is going to be a huge list. I am so emotional about Arnav. She laughs many things out but she reads Arnav like an open book. Even before Arnav can look at her & say something, she exactly knows how his day has been or what is bothering him. So on this Rakhi, Anjali would want Arnav to open up & express himself more freely. He should try & emote on his own, as presently its Anjali who coax him to speak his heart out. This is what I would hope & pray for Arnav.

Rangmunch.TV: So are the viewers going to see a Raksha bandhan sequence on the show?

Daljeet: Ya! Absolutely. There is a major Rakhi sequence coming up. We know how much the viewers love to watch Arnav & Anjali together, so there is no way that we can disappoint them on a festival like Rakhi. I only wish that something nice were coming up. However, I cannot reveal the upcoming story, but I can assure you that there is going to be a very beautiful sequence that the viewers should look forward to in Rakhee for both of us.

Rangmunch.TV: So which is that one scene of Arnav & Anjali that you like the most?

Daljeet: Look, my answer might sound diplomatic & very cliché, but honestly, I like all the scenes. In fact, we keep improvising on all our scenes & say our own lines & our dialogue writers keep cribbing about it. Barun & I have a lot of fun together. He is a naughty brat & I am child like too. Being the youngest at home, I was always pampered & Shalene, my husband, continued that trend even after marriage. So I refuse to grow up & I am like that little child on the set. Barun is really like an elder brother to me. He is too sweet to be true & we have done all the scenes with a lot of honesty & sincerity. I love all the emotional scenes especially the one where Arnav tells how because of Anjali he never missed his parents & how she filled his void by being a mother to him. When doing that entire scene I did not require glycerin coz we felt those emotions in real. More than me I guess you need to ask the viewers what according to them is the best Arnav – Anjali scene.

Rangmunch.TV: What message would you like to give to your fans?

Daljeet: Fan Base is too big a word for me now, as I am still new to the industry. However, my journey so far has been worthwhile & a never-ending thanks to all those people who love my work & me. I really hope to work more hard & do whatever it takes to not let my fans down & keep this love & trust going. I can assure my viewers that I am really working very hard so that they can love Anjali more & more in the days to come. There is a lot more to come. I would love to hear everyone say that they need a sister like Anjali (laughingly). Here’s wishing everyone a great Raksha Bandhan!

We at Rangmunch.TV thank Daljeet for giving such a warm and lovely interview...Happy Raksha Bandhan to all!!
