Man and Music...a Soulful Bond!!!

Music is like food to a romantic soul. The melody not only adds beauty to your emotions, but the lyrics etch their way into your heart as though to strike a chord with the person inside you. Television shows have always had the concept of title songs, though we seldom get to hear them as the title credits roll.

Rangmunch.TV, had done a write up on title songs and how they are remembered even today, long after the shows have gone off air. Like we say the tune always plays in your mind and you fondly recollect and remember a story by its song that played at the start of the show.

Is Pyar Ko Kyaa Naam Doonon Star Plus is the story of a love-hate relationship between suave Arnav Singh Raizada and simpleton Khushi Kumari Gupta. On the face of it, one knows they would never possibly meet. However when a song like "Tu Hi Bata mere Maula" is played, and it talks of two diametrically opposite individuals, the reality of their relationship and the irony of fate sinks in more deeply and impactfully ... the song ends with a heart wrenching line, "mil paaye kabhi dono, kya teri isme hai raza" leaving the listener anticipating. If nothing, since the song seems to speak so much about their story, you do want to explore and discover the depths of their relationship and the course it would take.

So, if you are an avid watcher of this Show, you must have definitely heard the one line, Is Pyaar Ko Kyaa Naam Doon, before and after the commercials. Have you ever wondered what that line is all about. Today Rangmunch.TV brings you the lyrics of the beautiful number "Jo Pehle Hua na" if you haven't had a chance to hear it yet...

jo pehle hua naa, ab hone lagaa hai,

dil humko jagaa kar, kyun sone lagaa hai,
yeh ishq hai yaa kuch aur hai, ya bas khaali-khaali shor hai,
isko main kya kahun, tu hi bataa...tu hi bataa
Iss pyaar ko kyaa naam doon? Iss pyaar ko kya naam doon??

tujhko dekh kar, aankhein muskuraane lagti hain,
tujhko milkar dhadkane gungunaanein lagti hai,
aisa hota hai kyun, mujhko khabar nahi,
pehle kabhi hua aisa asar nahin,
jo mere dil ke paas hai, naye jaadu naye ehsaas,
aisey mein kya karun...kya karun, tu hi bataa,
Iss pyaar ko kyaa naam doon? Iss pyaar ko kya naam doon??

The song clearly depicts the state of mind of a man who has just fallen in love and the emotions he goes through just at the thought of his beloved. It reveals anxiety, hope, romance and turmoil that perhaps Arnav experiences at the thought of realising his feelings for Khushi. Does this mean their love story is to kick start soon and the fans are in for some amazing moments of togetherness?

For now, while you listen to the melodious number, we only hope we have some good times ahead of us on Is Pyaar Ko Kyaa Naam Doon!!

Like every girl, Kastur wishes that the biggest day of her life is as perfect as it can be. We had already mentioned earlier that the celebrations will have renowned TV personalities Mahi Vij and Jay Bhanushali , Karan Wahi and Mouni Roy and dance icons Dharmesh and Vrushali from Dance India Dance, performing at the sangeet & mehendi cermonies to up the glamour quotient which will culminate into a traditional Gujarati wedding ceremony. The Viewers will get to witness an hour long Special Sangeet Ceremony and shake a leg to some popular bollywood songs. Speaking on the wedding festivities in Dharampatni, Saurabh Tewari, Head of Programming - Fiction at Imagine TV said, “The marriage between Mohan and Kastur is an integral part of this show. The concept of ‘Dharampatni’ is based on the vital role of a woman, in every man’s life; hence, this wedding is indicative of a turning point in both – Mohan and Kastur’s - life. We have also touched upon the fact that, in India, it is never a marriage of two people, but the unison of two families.”

Mohan and Kastur wed in traditional Gujarati rituals considering the fire as witness, Kastur legally becomes the ‘Dharampatni’ of Mohan. While the Families prepare for a weeklong celebration to bring in the joyous day, it would be interesting to watch what happens next. Would Mohan trust the holy matrimonial bond Or would Kastur’s life change for the better or worst is yet to be seen.

Fida's Corner: His Wife, Mrs. Khurana!!! (Chapter 19)

Chapter 19

Days passed; the visit to Prashant’s site went well (by which he meant that he ensured that Geet didn’t spend too much time with Prashant Kelkar himself), and Khurana Construction continued to go from strength to strength, especially now that the owner and his wife were working together.

Their personal life was as complicated as ever.  It seemed that their relationship had turned into a constant game of push and pull; he pushed to try and get Geet to open up to him, she pulled back from discussion of anything personal between them.  A fortnight after the visit to the Kelkar site, he was as close to giving up as he would allow himself to be.

On the ten-week anniversary of his discharge home after his accident, all four members of the Khurana family enjoyed dinner together.  He had spent the day trying to find an opportunity to spend some time with his wife, but she had skilfully outmanoeuvred him.  During dinner, he saw Geet looking at him again and again, her gaze skittering away nervously every time she caught his eye.  For a few moments, he allowed himself to hope that perhaps, finally, she was willing to talk to him, but as soon as the meal was complete, she rushed away after muttering a barely audible excuse.  That left him to excuse himself and make his way to his study where he sat staring at a dark computer screen, mulling over the unholy mess that was his personal life.

There was one fact he couldn’t get away from, and it was the only reason he didn’t just give up and give in.  The fact was that he loved her; it had taken less than a week for his hibernating emotions to reawaken, less than a month for his heart to recognise what he had been trying to ignore, to recognise that Geet was his soulmate.  He now understood completely how he had ended up married to Geet in the first place; his need for her was so great, his soul-deep recognition of her so strong that he knew that even if she had been married to Dev (or for that matter to anyone else) when he met her the first time, even then they would still have ended up together.

Turning to the window, he smiled sardonically; it was fate’s revenge on him, he knew - he, who hadn’t believed in love, had been shown that there were some connections so strong that they made even love look like a childish emotion.

Two weeks ago, he had arrogantly assumed it was simply a question of making her love him again; the way she had reacted to him during the last fortnight had made it plain that it wasn’t going to be as easy as that.  Now there were some questions he couldn’t avoid asking himself; had he hurt Geet so deeply that she no longer felt that pull, that bond? Had her soul-bond been with the man he had been, rather than the man he was now?  Had her love died, were her actions and reactions simply a result of proximity and a need for comfort from a man who shared the body of the man she had once loved?

Hours passed, his thoughts going round and round in circles; he didn’t even realise he was sitting in absolute darkness until he heard the door to the study open; looking up, he saw his wife standing framed in the doorway, the light from the hall making her appear ethereally beautiful.  She was wearing one of his kurtas over a salwar, half-swamped by a garment so ridiculously outsized.

God, she confused him; did she even realise how many conflicting signals she was giving?  Wearing his clothes, coming to find him in the dead of night- if she wanted to push him away then why on earth was she here?  For a moment, he battled with the need to just give in, to just pull her close and lose himself in her body, to stop hoping that one day she’d let him touch her because they loved her, not just because she thought it was her duty.  After all, if that was all she was willing to give him, then perhaps it was time he started to make the best of whatever he could get.  The need coursing through him made his voice brusque, but he couldn’t stop himself from ensuring that she didn’t need him for something.

“Kya hua Geet, tum yahan kyun aayi ho?” “What’s wrong Geet, why are you here?”

“Mujhe kuch nahin hua, bas main jab jaagi to aap nahin the; maine ek ghanta to intezaar kiya magar jab aap phir bhi nahin aaye to main pareshaan hogayi, aap ko dekhne aagayi.  Aap kaam karrahe hain?  Kya humare projects mein koi problem hai?”
“Nothing’s wrong, it’s just that you weren’t there when I woke; I waited for an hour when you didn’t come to bed, I got worried and came looking for you.  Are you working?  Is there a problem with any of the projects?”

“Geet, main aajaoonga, tum so jaao.  Tumhein meri wajha se jaagne ki zaroorat nahin hai.” “Geet, I’ll be up, go to sleep.  You don’t have to wait up for me.”

She opened her mouth as if to say something, but a quick glance at his face must have convinced her that he wasn’t in the mood to listen.  After another brief moment of hesitation, she turned and went towards the stairs, leaving her husband watching her as she walked away.

Seeing her there, looking vulnerable, soft, warm, and desirable, had served only to emphasise his need for her.  He wanted to believe that she was subconsciously comforted by wearing his clothes (and what other reason could there be to wear one of his kurtas when she had perfectly good nightwear of her own), perhaps because somewhere inside her, the need for his touch, his scent, his presence was still burning bright.  Still, he couldn’t help but wonder if he was deluding himself because he so desperately wanted to believe she loved him.

More hours passed, hours spent analysing every moment he had spent with Geet, but at three o’clock in the morning, he was left with a pounding headache and no firm conclusion.  Realising how late it was, he was just closing the door to his study when his gaze fell on the picture on his desk; it was a picture taken on his wedding day.  They were standing together, looking at each other as if no one else in the world existed.

Later, he couldn’t remember how long he spent just looking at that picture, just drinking in the expression on her face.  All he knew was that in those still moments, standing with his eyes fixed on the way she had looked at him, he suddenly felt his heart settle and his headache vanish.  The absolute certainty that she still loved him washed over him like a wave, sweeping away all the questions and worries.  He knew it as well as he knew the sky was blue or that the earth was round.  She was hurt and terrified of letting him close again, but she still loved him.  A bond as strong as theirs, a bond strong enough to break through the concrete walls around his heart- that deep a bond could never die.  She still loved him, and all he had to do was show her that, show her that even though he wasn’t the man she remembered, he was still the man she loved.

He made his way to their room,  his plans percolating in his mind as he climbed the stairs.  He had been too subtle, too scared of rejection; he finally realised that he needed to simultaneously reassure her of the depth of his love and make her acknowledge to herself how much she needed him.  It was only once she accepted that he loved her that he would be able to convince her that he would always find his way back to her, always.

He walked into their room expecting to see her sleeping peacefully; instead he found her sitting in the dark, her eyes fixed on the door as if waiting for him to walk in.

Deciding that there was no time like the present to start his campaign, he took a deep breath then said “Kya mere baghair neend nahin aarahi thi?” “Couldn’t you sleep without me?”

He held his breath as he saw his words hit home, then prayed for some reaction.  After a brief moment, she blushed dark pink, and he breathed again.  He had hit on the truth, she really hadn’t been able to sleep without him.  After a tiny pause to let the message sink in, a moment where he could see her searching for a way to answer his comment, he said “I’m sorry Geet, maine khayal nahin kiya.  Aaj ke baad aisa nahin hoga, waise hi meri wajha se tumhari bahut neend kharab hui hai”  “I’m sorry Geet, I didn’t think.  It won’t happen again, you’ve already lost far too much sleep because of me”

Without giving her a chance to respond, he stood and walked towards her, then bent and cupped her face in his hands, pressing a gentle kiss to her forehead.  Before she could say a word, he walked into the bathroom, calling out to her as he stripped to get into the shower.

“Geet, ab main aagaya hoon, tum so jaao, aaj Saturday hai, Dadi ke saath tumhein bahut kuch karna hoga”.
“Geet, I’m here now, go to sleep.  It’s saturday today, I’m sure Dadi has lots planned for you”

As he stood under the stinging cold water, he smiled; now that he knew she loved him, he would never give up.  He would wait for Geet to acknowledge her love till the end of time if he had to, but he would never give up.

THE WONDER BOY – ANKAN SEN!!

Himmat se jo koyi chale, dharti hille qadmon tale
Kya dooriyaan kya faasle, manzil lage aake gale
Tu chal yunhi ab sub-o-shaam, rukna, jhukna nahin tera kaam
Paayega jo lakshya hai tera
Lakshya toh har haal mein paana hai!!!

Last night the viewers witnessed a Spectacular Grand Finale of Just Dance where all the three finalists - Ankan Sen, Surjeet Bansal and Karan Khanna gave their finest performances and danced as if there was no tomorrow. However, it was the 17-year-old boy from Calcutta, Ankan Sen, who was declared the Winner at the end of the Finale.

The
Judges – Hrithik, Farah and Vaibhavi, rightly called Ankan “The Wonder Boy”
because every time he danced, he not only set the stage on fire but also
compelled the Judges and the Viewers to wonder as to how he manages to perform
every dance form with so much grace and perfection and make it all look so
effortless. Even though his forte was Contemporary, but in no time, he
established himself as the most Versatile Dancer in the show.

Whenever Ankan landed in the danger zone, his spirit never dampened; rather he bounced back with more force and determination. While all the contestants considered him the strongest contender, for Ankan, he was his ONLY Competitor. With every performance, he kept raising the bar for himself & went on to prove that nothing is impossible for him as far as DANCE is concerned.

With this well deserved Victory, he not only won his families’ confidence and faith, who did not support him then in his journey of Dance, but also made them realize that Dancing for him is nothing less than breathing, and Dance is what keeps him ALIVE.

Looking forward and winning life’s challenges is what determines the strength of an individual’s character and contributes to his or her success. Destiny is simply the strength of your desires.

Ankan’s victory established the fact that, it is not good enough to “DREAM” big unless you have the 3P’s – Passion, Patience & Perseverance.

We at Rangmunch.TV hope and wish that Ankan Sen achieves many more milestones in the days to come and continues to experience LIFE through DANCE!

‘Kuch Toh Log Kahenge’ – A Blast from the Past!

Pyaase hai naina...tarse saari raina
jinme tu..hai rehta
haal kyun tu jaane na
Saiyyan pehchane na
haal unka kyun tu jaane na...

Saiyyan nainon ki bhasha samjhe na...
Nainon ki bhasha samjhe na….samjhe na…

We will give you few minutes to listen to this song, if you haven’t heard it yet, because this song sets the tone for the upcoming show ‘Kuch toh log kahenge’ that is set to premier this Monday, 3rd October at 8 pm on Sony TV. Its lyrics, the yearning in the voice of the singer, the song itself is reason enough to want to watch it.

Kuch toh log kahenge promises to revisit the much-loved yesteryear Pakistani show Dhoop Kinaray, which is still fondly etched in the hearts of each and everyone who has been fortunate enough to watch it.

For those wondering about Dhoop Kinaray, we bring to you a glimpse into the show that had effortlessly warmed its way into millions of souls, through the words and heart of our very own Fida Khurana –

It was Dhoop Kinaray that taught me the truth about love: that you didn’t have to be young and handsome to fall in love; that sometimes princes are much older than their princesses, and that sometimes finding true love meant that you have to conquer your inner demons, not just outside forces. It also made me realize that love doesn’t depend on good looks or compatibility; sometimes love just is.”

Memories of Dhoop Kinaray by Fida khurana

Dhoop Kinaray is the story of Dr Ahmer Ansari (Rahat Kazmi) and Dr Zoya Ali Khan (Marina Khan), directed by Saira Kazmi.  First shown in eighties Pakistan, it became a super-hit across the subcontinent and the Diaspora, and still has a special place in the heart of all those women who grew up sighing over each interaction between the protagonists.

To give a summary seems unfair, for to encapsulate the story in a few brief lines is to diminish its emotional complexity and minimize the importance of the wonderful dialogues, which turned an everyday story into a seminal television show; still, let me try.

Ahmer is the adopted son of Zoya’s maternal grandfather, Baba (though this fact is known to neither of them).  When Ahmer’s Baba dies, he leaves his house to Zoya, leaving Ahmer feeling bitter and unloved, changing him from a happy loving man into a bitter, closed off recluse.  Zoya on the other hand is a happy-go-lucky young girl, who cares nothing for her inheritance; she has been raised by her indulgent Baba after her mother died, and thinks nothing about her mother’s family.

The two meet five years later, when Zoya (now a doctor) goes to work for Dr Ahmer in the Paediatric Ward; he initially thinks her nothing more than a careless and useless child who must always be corrected, whilst she considers him a terrifying dictator.  They eventually find their way towards each other, but then, at the moment when their relationship seems set to flourish, the past returns to haunt them as Ahmer realises that he has given his heart to the girl who destroyed his faith in love.

Watching these two characters find their way into each other’s heart is still a wonderful experience; Rahat Kazmi (Ahmer) and Marina Khan (Zoya) are totally convincing as two people who apparently have nothing in common, but who fall in love almost without realising.  The attraction and affection between them is utterly believable, despite the fact that they never even speak of love.

No show can depend on its main protagonists alone; Dhoop Kinarey is enriched by a wonderful cast of supporting characters.  Most important in the supporting cast are Fasi (Azra Sherwani), who is Zoya’s aaya/housekeeper, Zoya’s Baba (Qazi Wajid) and Dr Sheena Karamat Ali (Badar Khalil).

Zoya’s relationship with her Baba is a beauty to behold; every interaction is a pleasure to watch and the actors are utterly believable.  Azra Sherwani and Qazi Wajid are a joy to watch as the bickering almost-siblings (Fasi may be a servant, but at no time is she ever shown as less than a member of the family).

Dr Sheena is the other-woman, the competitor for Ahmer’s heart; she once provoked nothing but hatred in me, but with time, the depth of her pain has become clearer.  Her experiences are heart-breaking and I can’t help but wish that there had been some way for her to have a little happiness.  Badar Khalil shows what a wonderful actress she is; pathos and pain permeate her performance as the older woman who has to face up to the ravages of time.

Zoya’s best friend Anji  (Kehkashan Awan) is supportive and beautiful; she finds love with Dr Ahmer’s right-hand man Dr Irfan (Sajid Hassan) who is blessed with some of the best lines of dialogue in the show. Anji’s parents (Hameed Wayne and Ishrat Hashmi) provide some elegant comic relief, and even the minor characters all manage to develop individual personalities despite minimal screen time.

Dhoop Kinaray is a show in which relationships develop realistically; there is no sudden fall into love, no outside forces keeping the lovers apart, no evil villain from whom Ahmer has to save Zoya.  There are no grand declarations, no moments of physical intimacy, no explosive denouement.  And yet it is a show which epitomizes good story-telling, a show which treats its viewers like adults and shows us how love develops rather than spelling it out for us in words of one syllable.

Dhoop Kinaray is a masterclass in writing, acting and directing.  It is a perfect storm, each component coming together to work in perfect harmony.  There are no weak links, no exceptions.  One hardly notices the flaws, if any; the writing is so crisp as to hold your attention and concentration throughout.

Despite my wish to keep Dhoop Kinarey hidden in my heart, safe from those who might find it wanting, it would be wrong to keep such a gem hidden; if you are lucky, it will touch something inside you the way it has inside a generation of women, reminding you that love can flourish anywhere, even between two people separated by age, temperament and betrayal.  I can only hope that Kuch to Log Kahenge stays true to the spirit of Dhoop Kinarey, and wish it every success.

Kuch Toh Log Kahenge has Mohnish Bahl essaying the role of Dr Ahmer Ansari as Dr Ashutosh, and Kritika Kamra playing the bubbly and effervescent Zoya as Nidhi. It is a heart-warming tale of love between two different individuals, both in temperament and age, bound by a past hidden to both that will someday threaten to rip apart their bond forever. Will KTLH stay true to the original and succeed to capture a million hearts is anybody’s guess.

For now, the show is the most talked about in the television industry and among the fans. We at Rangmunch.TV wish it a success beyond comparison and sincerely hope that we get to not only relive the golden memories but also create new ones with Sony’s Kuch toh log kahenge.

Our heartfelt thanks to Fida Khurana, author of the Fan Fiction ‘His Wife, Mrs. Khurana’ based on Star One show ‘Geet Hui Sabse Parayi’ on Rangmunch.TV, for sharing her memories of Dhoop Kinaray with us.

Karan Singh Grover : Mr.Lover Boy !!!

THE  heartthrob of millions who stormed  the country with his chocolate boy looks and intense lover boy image made his debut into the Television Industry in 2004 winning the Most Popular Model in Gladrags Manhunt Contest .He is none other than Karan Singh Grover. In 2004-2005, Karan also made his entry into an MTV show called "Kitni Mast Hai Zindagi". At the same time he jumped into  playing the lead role in “Princess Dollie Aur Uska Magic bag" on Star Plus. In this show he played Dollie’s boyfriend. Karan not only made a good start of his career but it was through these shows that he got noticed by Ekta Kapoor who roped him in playing Sharad Gupta  in a very popular Star Plus show “Kasauti Zindagi Ki".This role though negative, gave him immense popularity and fame. In 2007 Karan won the Most Promising Actor Award in Kolkata.

In the later half of 2006-2007 , Karan also played  the main lead in Sahara One’s  Sohla Singaar. This show brought him into a positive light and everyone took notice of him. But it was the role of “Dr.Armaan Malik" in Star One’s “Dill Mill Gayye" that took every youth, every teenage girl to completely fall head over heels in love with him. Karan Singh Grover became a heartthrob overnight. The  mischevious glint in his eyes, his style of  romancing Riddhima (played by Shilpa Anand), his prankster ways with his Doctor pals in the show became a rave and the show went on for good 3 years. Even after his departure and show coming to an end, Karan created a niche for  romance. He epitomized love so beautifully that all girls craved to be Riddhima.
From  2008 to 2011, Karan forayed into Reality shows. We saw him in Zara Nachke Dikha , Nach Baliye 3, Jhalak Dikhlaja, Idea Rocks India and many more. His anchoring got him the nomination of “The Best Anchor" in 2008. He further went on to win the “The Most Fit Actor" in 2010 Gold Awards.

Karan Singh Grover has been very popular with the youth, and that’s why we will be seeing him in “Dil Dosti and Dance" on Channel V. In the show he will be seen mentoring the college students. His entry on the show last Thursday  must have given his fans a sense of nostalgia as he swerved his way into the college on his sports bike, reminding them of his opening scene in Dill Mill Gaye. However, here Karan will be seen playing a suave Counseller of today, who will set the students right. His good looks and charm is once again going to make the girls go weak on their knees. Since this youth show on Channel V is full of masti and fun, and Karan has also come on board, we hope to see some heart racing moments!

We at Rangmunch wish KSG all the very best for his current show and all his future projects .

While Mohan's mother and the viewers are still trying to comprehend Mohan's sudden change of heart, he is determined about getting married to Kastur. Except for Mohan's mother, his entire family always desired this alliance, and hence they are not only happy with Mohan's decision but are also ensuring that they leave no stone un-turned as far as the wedding celebrations are concerned.

The Makers of the show have geared up for a Star-studded Sangeet Ceremony. We have come to know that known faces from the Television Industry like Mahi Vij, Jay Bhanushali and Karan Wahi will be performing in this episode.

However, amidst all the glitz and glamour, will the darker side of Mohan get revealed to both the families?
