A Note of Thanks from The Rangmunch Bunch!!!

As Rangmunch.TV has crossed over One Lac page views in a span of three months, we would like to THANK everyone who has been a part of our journey and has made this possible. We also felt that now is the time to introduce you to the TEAM of Rangmunch.TV who have contributed in achieving this milestone.

With this you can now put a face to the writers whose work you read on Rangmunch.TV!

Niharika Vidya Sagar: I still remember it was a Sunday afternoon, Navya, Swati, Niti and I were on a conference call !!!  Amidst loads of other things we talked of, all of us were stuck on one thing, we all passionately felt about TV shows in general ! This is when we decided we wanted to bring to you that side of Television and Entertainment, one hasn’t perhaps seen before. We don’t know how far we have succeeded in the same, but we are glad, we have made our attempt and beginning.  The whole behind-the-scenes story is such a fascination to me; I drove the other three crazy, and forced them to like it too!!! And hey guess what? They don’t just like it now, they love it !!!  And then, Neeru came on board, an International Show fan-we made our baby wear those clothes as well, and she looked like an angel in them !! I take the liberty to speak for all, and can vouch for the fact that we have only learnt every single day!!  At times I feel, my dear friends out here get sick of the amount I talk, since there is so much to share … And as we learn, we want to share the same with all of you.. “Wo kya hai hai .. ladki hoon, pet main koi baat bachti nahi… “ Thank You so much for giving us the page views you did! Keep viewing us more and we will add more colors to Rangmunch in the days to come. Loads of love and hugs.

Navyanka Varma: "Serendipity" is what comes to mind when i think of Rangmunch and  the friends I made on this blog. Niha, who has been there in my life for forever now, Swati whom I  have a fun filled connection with, Neeru who is like the fog horn , guiding us to the new pathways and Niti, who's intense writing I fell in love with . All  have touched my life  every way possible. Rangmunch has become very dear to my heart. The conception of this blog from start to finish  has been very memorable. The equation I share with  my team is amazing ,TOUCH WOOD for that! All I can say is that its been “A walk to remember." I wish Rangmunch all the best and thank you all for making it what it is today .

Swati Ghosh: 17th July 2011, When we started Rangmunch.TV, I had my own share of apprehensions but a BIG THANKS to all you wonderful Readers out there who stood by us and gave us One Lac page views in a span of 3 months. As much as I am elated to see Rangmunch.TV achieve its first milestone, I also  realise that our efforts would not have got paid off without your love, support, and best wishes. Your comments and words of appreciation is what motivates and inspires each one of us to put our best foot forward with regards to generating ideas and formulating articles. Thank you for following the Rangmunch Blog on a regular basis and patiently reading our write-ups. Its my humble request to each and every one of you, please continue to extend your love and support to Rangmunch team so that we can continue to bring forth Fascinating  news and facts from the World of Entertainment to the best of our ability.

Last but not the least, Thank you Niharika, Navya, Niti and Neeru for always being there as a Friend, Philosopher and Guide. This journey would not have been so exciting and fulfilling without all you guys help and support. "Together we  can and we will."  With lots of Love and Best Wishes.

Niti Vaidya: They say girls just love to talk and discuss. We could have done that over a cup of coffee. But , we thought otherwise. Together we walked coming from different paths towards a common dream - television, making our passion, our profession. Though I still haven't have had a chance to actively be a part of Rangmunch but my inner connect with it is as strong.  Dreamer, that I am , it gives me a huge high to see my friends working hard and achieving huge success in a short span. Rangmunch to me is a token of love for the unbreakable bond I share with  each of my friends here. Cheers!! Good luck to us for many more such milestone moments.

Neeraja Unni: I have been associated with Rangmunch for over a month now, and it has been a pleasure interacting and working alongside Swati, Niharika, and Navya, who believe in honest hard work and also believe that it can be achieved while having loads of fun. Scripting the brand new International Segment is interesting, keeps me on my toes, and gives me an opportunity to write to my heart’s content about shows that I love watching. It’s a win-win situation for me.

Rangmunch is a bridge (to connect the fans to the television industry and vice versa) that is being meticulously built with lots of love and care. We are putting in our best efforts to also bring to you, shows that you will carry with you forever as memories.
An achievement of One-lakh page views in a short span of three months is just the beginning. We are just getting warmed up and we have many more milestones to achieve, examples to set. This cannot be done without your constant support and encouragement.
A heartfelt gratitude to all those wonderful people from the industry and the fans (you guys are the best!) who have regularly found time to not only read our articles but have also been kind enough to give us your valuable feedback in the form of comments, requests, and criticism. Your guidance is most precious to us. Bow to thee!

We would also like to thank everyone from the Television Industry who have not only encouraged us with their kind words and best wishes, but  have also blessed us. We hope to continue to do our best and act as a platform between the fans and those faces that give them their favourite shows!

But Rangmunch has gone a step ahead by not only publicising actors but also the people behind the camera who play an integral part in the creation of a show. Really looking forward to a lot of gossip along with creative discussions. All the best guys.

Thanks A Lot Everyone: Nissar Parvez!

When you are a master at your art, and are loved for the same, it takes a lot of courage for one to take a risk and enter an arena that is untread. For Nissar Parvez, who has delivered hit shows like Dil Mill Gayye, Miley Jab Hum Tum, and Geet-Hui Sabse Parayi, it wouldn’t have been hard to don the mantle of a Director yet again in another project! But the man chose to think and act differently, just the way he does with all his shows!

When fans learnt of Nissar producing Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon on StarPlus, they were rest assured, this was definitely going to be something to watch out for. Nissar chose to move out of his comfort zone, replaced the Director's cap with that of a Producer and decided to explore his fortunes with a new venture in a new role. Needless to say, the risk has paid off, with Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon having successfully completed 100 episodes today and also reaching the No. 2 spot on Star Plus recently!

We congratulated Nissar over the double victory and here is what he said to the viewers...  "Hey everyone, this really wouldn't have been possible without the immense love that you as audience have shown towards our shows. You've have seen it, lived it, and loved it."

He  further went on to say "This one really feels special because scoring a century seemed very challenging keeping in mind the tough competition we had in front of us. Gul, Rajesh and I had to literally rack and put our brains together to bring the show out the way we had all visualized it. I must say, it has not been easy. Now as we look back, we gladly smile at all those maddeningly tedious days. We are now gearing up and looking forward to another century, because we hate to get out. We are all fighters and we love being that.”

“At this point, I would really want to mention a few names without whose support, this journey wouldn't have been possible.

Lata, Megha, Ajit, Anand, Pushpa, Shadaab, Kiran, Alok - These are the names of some of the people who silently work at the back end. To me they are the real heroes without whose support, you would not be watching this show on time each day.”

“Thanks a lot everyone. Keep watching.”

We at Rangmunch.TV, wish Nissar Parvez and his entire team Good Luck and hope they continue to entertain the viewers.

We started shooting for Iss Pyaar Ko....in flat 8 days- Rajesh Chadha!

Rajesh Chadha, the Producer (Panglosean Entertainment) of Iss Pyar Ko Kya Naam Doon, is in the seventh heaven with his show touching a century  . The show has become a craze with the youth with the amazing chemistry shown between Barun and Sanaya who play Arnav and Khushi on the show. The freshness, the innocence and the mass appeal drama has made it No. 2 in the TRP list. We at Rangmunch contacted and congratulated  Mr. Chaddha  on having touched this milestone and asked him how he feels about the show , the cast, the crew and overall euphoria .
"I'm extremely happy and proud of my team and my viewers for having touched 100 episodes today. Its always an honor to be appreciated . The audience have given us much love in accepting this wonderful story. I always thank my team before I thank anyone else. Without them , nothing would have been possible. Let me tell you that this show came through in flat  8 days. We got confirmation to start the show on 7th April and and by 15th April we started shooting at an outdoor location with choppers. In seven days if we could  pull off such a start to the show, its because of the team I have. The patience and all hard work they have put in this is  commendable. People tend to leave under pressure, but my team stuck on with each other from then till now."

"One person I would sincerely like to thank is "Nissar Parvez"Nissar is a great guy. He helped us immensely in setting  up the show in the start. He is the one Director I really look up to. He is an ace when it comes to such intense subjects. The writers also have put in their efforts in coining different phrases and lines for the actors. The different departments have worked more than their share and gave it a No 2 position in such a short span."
"One person who has pleasantly shocked me is "Sanaya". I was a bit skeptical initially as she had worked in Mile Jab Hum Tum, where she played a diametrically opposite character. I was  with  Endemol when that show aired. I was not sure if she could do Khushi convincingly but she has gotten into the skin of the character so beautifully, that its  truly amazing. She is a stunner and has given more than herself to this character. The jalebi bit has its own history too. In fact my mom is diabetic and when so much jalebi is shown, she complains of how she cant have it, and we have only added on to her craving levels"
“It feels great to touch such heights in such a short span and we promise to give more to the viewers in the future.”
We at Rangmunch congratulate the team of IPKKND once more on completion of 100 episodes.
CHEERS Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon....!!!!

‘Kuch Toh Log Kahenge’ – A Blast from the Past!

Pyaase hai naina...tarse saari raina
jinme tu..hai rehta
haal kyun tu jaane na
Saiyyan pehchane na
haal unka kyun tu jaane na...

Saiyyan nainon ki bhasha samjhe na...
Nainon ki bhasha samjhe na….samjhe na…

We will give you few minutes to listen to this song, if you haven’t heard it yet, because this song sets the tone for the upcoming show ‘Kuch toh log kahenge’ that is set to premier this Monday, 3rd October at 8 pm on Sony TV. Its lyrics, the yearning in the voice of the singer, the song itself is reason enough to want to watch it.

Kuch toh log kahenge promises to revisit the much-loved yesteryear Pakistani show Dhoop Kinaray, which is still fondly etched in the hearts of each and everyone who has been fortunate enough to watch it.

For those wondering about Dhoop Kinaray, we bring to you a glimpse into the show that had effortlessly warmed its way into millions of souls, through the words and heart of our very own Fida Khurana –

It was Dhoop Kinaray that taught me the truth about love: that you didn’t have to be young and handsome to fall in love; that sometimes princes are much older than their princesses, and that sometimes finding true love meant that you have to conquer your inner demons, not just outside forces. It also made me realize that love doesn’t depend on good looks or compatibility; sometimes love just is.”

Memories of Dhoop Kinaray by Fida khurana

Dhoop Kinaray is the story of Dr Ahmer Ansari (Rahat Kazmi) and Dr Zoya Ali Khan (Marina Khan), directed by Saira Kazmi.  First shown in eighties Pakistan, it became a super-hit across the subcontinent and the Diaspora, and still has a special place in the heart of all those women who grew up sighing over each interaction between the protagonists.

To give a summary seems unfair, for to encapsulate the story in a few brief lines is to diminish its emotional complexity and minimize the importance of the wonderful dialogues, which turned an everyday story into a seminal television show; still, let me try.

Ahmer is the adopted son of Zoya’s maternal grandfather, Baba (though this fact is known to neither of them).  When Ahmer’s Baba dies, he leaves his house to Zoya, leaving Ahmer feeling bitter and unloved, changing him from a happy loving man into a bitter, closed off recluse.  Zoya on the other hand is a happy-go-lucky young girl, who cares nothing for her inheritance; she has been raised by her indulgent Baba after her mother died, and thinks nothing about her mother’s family.

The two meet five years later, when Zoya (now a doctor) goes to work for Dr Ahmer in the Paediatric Ward; he initially thinks her nothing more than a careless and useless child who must always be corrected, whilst she considers him a terrifying dictator.  They eventually find their way towards each other, but then, at the moment when their relationship seems set to flourish, the past returns to haunt them as Ahmer realises that he has given his heart to the girl who destroyed his faith in love.

Watching these two characters find their way into each other’s heart is still a wonderful experience; Rahat Kazmi (Ahmer) and Marina Khan (Zoya) are totally convincing as two people who apparently have nothing in common, but who fall in love almost without realising.  The attraction and affection between them is utterly believable, despite the fact that they never even speak of love.

No show can depend on its main protagonists alone; Dhoop Kinarey is enriched by a wonderful cast of supporting characters.  Most important in the supporting cast are Fasi (Azra Sherwani), who is Zoya’s aaya/housekeeper, Zoya’s Baba (Qazi Wajid) and Dr Sheena Karamat Ali (Badar Khalil).

Zoya’s relationship with her Baba is a beauty to behold; every interaction is a pleasure to watch and the actors are utterly believable.  Azra Sherwani and Qazi Wajid are a joy to watch as the bickering almost-siblings (Fasi may be a servant, but at no time is she ever shown as less than a member of the family).

Dr Sheena is the other-woman, the competitor for Ahmer’s heart; she once provoked nothing but hatred in me, but with time, the depth of her pain has become clearer.  Her experiences are heart-breaking and I can’t help but wish that there had been some way for her to have a little happiness.  Badar Khalil shows what a wonderful actress she is; pathos and pain permeate her performance as the older woman who has to face up to the ravages of time.

Zoya’s best friend Anji  (Kehkashan Awan) is supportive and beautiful; she finds love with Dr Ahmer’s right-hand man Dr Irfan (Sajid Hassan) who is blessed with some of the best lines of dialogue in the show. Anji’s parents (Hameed Wayne and Ishrat Hashmi) provide some elegant comic relief, and even the minor characters all manage to develop individual personalities despite minimal screen time.

Dhoop Kinaray is a show in which relationships develop realistically; there is no sudden fall into love, no outside forces keeping the lovers apart, no evil villain from whom Ahmer has to save Zoya.  There are no grand declarations, no moments of physical intimacy, no explosive denouement.  And yet it is a show which epitomizes good story-telling, a show which treats its viewers like adults and shows us how love develops rather than spelling it out for us in words of one syllable.

Dhoop Kinaray is a masterclass in writing, acting and directing.  It is a perfect storm, each component coming together to work in perfect harmony.  There are no weak links, no exceptions.  One hardly notices the flaws, if any; the writing is so crisp as to hold your attention and concentration throughout.

Despite my wish to keep Dhoop Kinarey hidden in my heart, safe from those who might find it wanting, it would be wrong to keep such a gem hidden; if you are lucky, it will touch something inside you the way it has inside a generation of women, reminding you that love can flourish anywhere, even between two people separated by age, temperament and betrayal.  I can only hope that Kuch to Log Kahenge stays true to the spirit of Dhoop Kinarey, and wish it every success.

Kuch Toh Log Kahenge has Mohnish Bahl essaying the role of Dr Ahmer Ansari as Dr Ashutosh, and Kritika Kamra playing the bubbly and effervescent Zoya as Nidhi. It is a heart-warming tale of love between two different individuals, both in temperament and age, bound by a past hidden to both that will someday threaten to rip apart their bond forever. Will KTLH stay true to the original and succeed to capture a million hearts is anybody’s guess.

For now, the show is the most talked about in the television industry and among the fans. We at Rangmunch.TV wish it a success beyond comparison and sincerely hope that we get to not only relive the golden memories but also create new ones with Sony’s Kuch toh log kahenge.

Our heartfelt thanks to Fida Khurana, author of the Fan Fiction ‘His Wife, Mrs. Khurana’ based on Star One show ‘Geet Hui Sabse Parayi’ on Rangmunch.TV, for sharing her memories of Dhoop Kinaray with us.

Rangmunch Diaries: Set-hopping Update – Day Four! Our Day Out with 'Humse Hai Life'!

The excitement we felt while entering the sets of ‘Humse Hai Life’ has still not ebbed hours after we have left the place. From the second we stepped onto the sets, there was something or the other that kept us fascinated throughout. The sheer vibrancy of the set with generous splashes of Red, Green, White, and Yellow lifted our spirits few notches higher. We noticed that the room that has the boxing ring also boasts of a well-equipped gym. The thing that caught our eye the most was the Snapshots Begham & Badshah Cards adorning the doors of the Ladies & Gents Toilets on the sets respectively.

Before we continue, we would like to thank the Producers of the show, 4Lions, for inviting us to spend the whole day with them on the sets. It was a pleasure meeting one of the producers, Nissar Parvez, Director of the show, Gorky, and the Creative Head, Persis. A special thanks to the writer of the show, Hitesh Kewalya for coming to the set specially to meet the Rangmunch team.

Spending quality time with all of them gave us a better understanding of the show, its characters, and an insight into the various aspects of making a youth based show. The reason for choosing Channel V to air their show was the channel’s belief in their vision and the creative liberty given by them to execute that vision.

They also stated that Sia, the protagonist of the show, has several intriguing layers to her character that will each be revealed as the story progresses. Though the show is currently catering to the youth, we will soon get to see the storyline progressing to include parents and elders in the viewership fold.

We bumped into Himansh (Raghav) and Abigail (Sia) on the sets. We also had the pleasure of seeing the masters themselves weaving their magic right in front of us – Nissar Parvez was enacting the scene with Maan Singh while Gorky floored us completely by clicking working stills with our camera. We were also treated to a lavish lunch that we thoroughly relished. Overall, it was a memorable experience we wish to repeat in the near future.

Forthcoming Track: We hear that Raghav who has never ever said sorry to anyone in his life so far, finally says it to Sia for the first time. What is it that prompts him to apologize to Sia?

Watch this space for a detailed account of the precious information we gathered on the sets of ‘Humse Hai Life’.

Birthday Wishes to Nissar Parvez: Master Of Subtlety!!

LOVE is a small word but it is the strongest human emotion. Every individual relates to this term in his or her own way, but there are very few who can relate & capture this emotion & portray it with sensitivity & perfection on screen.

“He Came, He Saw, He Conquered”… From Directing shows like Shakalaka Boom Boom, to creating CULT shows like Dil Mil Gaye & Geet Hui Sabse Parayi & now Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, he created an euphoria every time with his magical touch or should I say the famous “Nissar’s Touch.”

“Come Fall in Love”… With every story that he directed, the viewers not only fell in love with the characters, but also started to believe in the power of love. Who can forget the love stories of Armaan-Riddhima, Mayank-Nupur Samrat-Gunjan, Maan-Geet & now Arnav & Khushi. Each one of these stories has left a unique mark on the viewers.

“Unity in Diversity”… Forums of his shows like Dil Mil Gaye and Geet have disproved the myth that women cannot co-exist under one roof in harmony. Under his direction, the shows have successfully united fans from diverse sections of the society, across borders, irrespective of their age and cultures to form virtual bonds that bloomed into lasting friendships in the real world.

“Sapney Bhi Sach Hotey Hain”… Through his shows & characters, fans not only dreamed but also made an effort to pursue them. His Direction & creative vision inspired thousands of fans to evolve as a person & explore the creative being in them.

So here’s wishing Nissar Parvez a very Happy Birthday on behalf of Rangmunch.TV…We wish & hope that he is blessed with love, happiness, success & good health always!!!.

Chat with Aditi Chopra(Pinky) as Promised!

Here is a chat with Aditi Gupta aka Pinky on GHSP …

We: Hi Aditi !! It’s great news,  that you are back on GHSP
Aditi: Sure, I am happy too.
We: So where was Pinky all these days?
Aditi: well sweets Geet was in Amritsar and Pinky was in Delhi, she never went away !!!

We:  Tell us about your role in this new phase.
Aditi: I am entering the show with freshness...but yeah the cuteness and foodie Pinky remains. As this is what people like about me. My bubbly nature and the fact that I am a foodie has always been my trademark.

We: What is it about Pinky that you love playing the most?
Aditi: It would be the innocence, the bubbly nature, the chirpiness. I love Pinky myself.

We: Do you know people want Adi and Pinky to pair up??
Aditi: Yes I do know that people want me and Adi to be a couple on screen since they love us together.

We: So do we expect to see a love track this time?
Aditi: well well well…You never know what’ in store in the track that is coming up....

We: What’s the first scene you shot after coming back?
Aditi: My first scene is just like the scene where I was introduced last June. I am shown with a packet of chips and a file in hand. I am a little upset that Geet doesn’t hasn’t kept in touch with me all these days but I also understand her since I know what she is going through.

We: So does Pinky know Maan has lost his memory? How will she support Geet?
Aditi: yes ofcourse she knows Maan has lost his memory, and in very first scene together she tells geet "ab main aa gayi hu toh dekhna maan sir ki yaadash kaise yapis layenge hum dono" so she will support Geet in every possible manner she can.

We: How was it coming back to the Geet set?
Aditi: It was the "awesomest feeling" as i met everyone I have missed so much. I was in fact so excited about meeting everyone that I didn’t sleep all night the previous day.

We: So who was the first person you met on the sets?
Aditi: As soon as I landed I went directly to my vanity. The person who greeted me there was the person I love the most and a person who has always taken care of me. I am talking about the eldest in Khurana's family Dadima that is ANJUJI.

We: What has changed on the sets of Geet?

Aditi: The first thing which changed is "the DIRECTOR" "the Location itself" "almost all the technicians" the Cameraman. The D.O.P. and yes, Geet’s brother and sister "Lucky Paaji" n "Nandini" have joined the cast.

We: Have you had a chance to interact with the new entrants?

Aditi: well yes....the moment i entered Lucky paaji did interact with me. He is sweet. A talked a little with Nandini as well.

We: So did you watch Geet, when you were not shooting for it?
Aditi:  i used to but not regularly. But my mom always did and would tell me what was happening. I was busy with my exams and my new show Shama on Doordarshan just started airing at 12: 30 since yesterday.

We: Tell us something about your role in Shama.
Aditi: Shama is a story about 3 sisters. I’m the youngest one Shabina. It’s a Muslim family and I play a bubbly yet studious girl here.

We: how do you manage between your studies and shoots?
Aditi: I have been acting since the age of 10, so it isn’t very difficult anymore. I am used to it now.

We: Thanks a ton for your time Aditi, and All the best! We love you as Pinky and we hope to see more of you in the near future.
Aditi: Thanks. I enjoyed talking with you as well.

Thank You for reading!
