Sasural Genda Phool: From the heart of a child

The entry of the new baby Khushi in Sasural Genda Phool has totally diverted the attention of the entire family to the infant. While she is a bundle of joy and the apple of everyone eye, the family fails to notice the growing complex in the mind of the other child of the house.
Meethi has now begun to feel neglected and thinks her own family doesnt love or care for her anymore. Though she has been trying really hard to accept the little child she feels left out in the pampering department.
We at Rangmunch.TV applaud the makers for bringing in such a sensitive track that deals with the heart of a growing child. We very often tend to take certain things for granted with the passage of time presuming we are not being unfair. However, the growing years in a child's life are the most crucial as they make you the individual you are when you grow up. A child that grows up with complexes and insecurities takes them a long way in dealing with various situations in life.
The makers of the show are attempting to tackle the said issue in an extremely sensitive manner by bringing out both the sides of the coin. An infact definitely needs more attention, but so does a growing child. Television shows have become a medium of educating the masses, and we hope with this track a message is sent across to both children and parents alike that, while paying attention to one child doesn't necessarily mean not loving the other, it is also on the parents to make sure they do not completely neglect one child for the sake of another unknowingly.
If this has happened around you, we would like you to share your views on this sensitive issue and would also like you tell us how you think Meethi and Khushi should ideally go forward as an audience.

Gulaal…...Coming Home!

“To love & be loved is to face the sun from both sides.” ~ Anon

Millions of unsaid words, thousands of unsaid feelings, all came pouring out when Gulaal finally opened her heart to Kesar in yesterday's Maha episode. Can someone love so selflessly as much as Kesar did? Can someone stay away from such kind of love the way Gulaal did? Well, we saw a heart-melting scene, when Gulaal eventually gave into her feelings and collapsed against Kesar. What moved me was the look in Kesar's eyes then. There was so much he wanted to say, so much he wanted to hear. His heart was experiencing a pool of varied emotions. All his pain, anguish, heartache was now taken over by immense & unexpected joy, happiness & contentment of winning his love, his Gulaal.

Kesar and Gulaal shared a unique relationship right from the start. Inspite of their age difference, they first became best of friends, then each other's confidante and finally circumstances bonded them together as man and wife. Their relationship has seen it all. With yesterday’s maha episode, the show has now ended, but it is just the beginning of Gulaal & Kesar’s journey towards experiencing marital bliss. As audience, we will miss them for sure & will never hear the melodious track again on screen. However, deep down our hearts, we are happy because Gulaal & Kesar are now married in the true sense of the word.

On behalf of Rangmunch.TV, we would like to thank the entire Cast & Crew of Gulaal for entertaining us over more than 200 episodes & making us a part of this beautiful journey.

“Piyu mari, O Piyari, kyun sukoon dil paye na, jhulus zameen maan ki, sawaan barsawo na.”

Fida's Corner : His wife, Mrs. Khurana !!! (Chapter 12)

CHAPTER 12

The woman he faced at the office the next day was not the woman who had cradled his head in her lap whilst he slept.  Sunday had passed quietly; by the time, he had returned from his workout, Geet had vanished from the bedroom- she didn’t reappear till dinner time.  He was too angry at her disappearing act to ask where she had been and by the time he made his way to the bedroom, she was asleep. It was only from something Nakul said the next morning that he learned that she had spent the day at the gurdwara.

On Monday, Geet was suddenly everywhere-- every project he dealt with turned out to require Geet’s involvement, every client he had meetings with insisted on seeing Geet. After the first two project meetings, it became clear that she had been involved from an early stage- he was first enraged and then intrigued by how well her involvement had been kept quiet by his own executive team- clearly at her instigation.  It was as if she had been making a serious effort to stay out of his way and let him have time away from her.  She had clearly now decided that the gloves were off- she had no further interest in hiding how involved in many facets of Khurana Construction she was.

If watching her had taught him a lot about her, then working with her taught him even more.  Over the next week, he realised that she was no push over, a fact that annoyed him no end (and intrigued him too).

The first time she disagreed with him in the middle of a meeting, he glared at her, expecting her to back down the same way everyone else who faced one of his death-glares did.  She didn’t.  She smiled, as if amused, and stuck to her guns.  Through another thirty minutes of arguing on his part and calm debate on hers- she didn’t back down.  In the end, he gave in- he had to admit that she was right and that what she wanted fulfilled the client’s needs better than his original idea.

The second argument they had was more heated; he was convinced he was right and so was she.  After a meeting in which the rest of the executive team were nothing more than spectators as Mr and Mrs Khurana ripped each other’s ideas (politely) to shreds, they came to a compromise.  He was left with a strange feeling of recognition, one that he fought to suppress.

The third argument they had was explosive.  Geet sat in on a meeting he had with Prashant Kelkar, a young industrialist who wanted Khurana Constructions to build for him.  Prashant, as he insisted they both call him, wanted something modern, but he wanted to have traditional Indian touches so that it was clear that his company and his ethos were Indian at heart.
Prashant was friendly, down to earth and obviously liked Geet.  When Geet smiled at him, her husband felt like standing up and pointing a spotlight at the sindoor in her maang.  A moment later, he could do nothing but wonder where on earth that impulse had come from, but he couldn’t suppress it.

When Prashant suggested that Geet might like to come and inspect the site, it was all he could do to hold on to his temper.  At the end of the meeting, he decided it was time to clarify a few things with his wife.

“Geet, zara aap mere office mein aayengi.  Aap se ek do baatein discuss karni hain”

Her response had him grinding his teeth.

“Theek hai, main bas Prashant ke saath ek do details clear karloon phir mein aati hoon.”

As she turned back and gave Prashant her full attention, he could do nothing but exit the conference room; he didn’t want to stay where he wasn’t wanted after all.

By the time she arrived in his office, he was fuming.  He refused to acknowledge, even to himself, what the real reason behind his anger was.  Instead, his opening gambit was enough to make her blood boil.

“Geet, mujhe pata hai ke aap yahan kaam mein masroof rehna chahti hain, magar itne bade project ke liye aap ke paas na to experience hai, na qualifications.  Site inspection agar aap karengi, to time bahut waste hoga, aap ko to pata bhi nahin hoga ke site inspection mein kya kya dekhna zaroori hai.  Behtar hoga agar aap Mr Kelkar se kehdein ke aap kissi aur ko bhej rahi hain, main Adi se kehke arrangements kardeta hoon”

She was sitting facing him; he saw her look down at her hands before she spoke  “You really do have a low opinion of me, don’t you.  Did you really think I would go along to a site inspection on my own?  I’ve made arrangements for an entire team to come with me; main to sirf jaake Mr Kelkar ko khush rakhrahi hoon.  He needs to see that we’re giving his project the highest priority; agar Maan Singh Khurana ki biwi jaake unse milegi to unhein to yahi lagega ke hum unhe importance de rahe hain”

Finally looking at him, she said “Don’t worry, I won’t embarrass you.  I know how to satisfy a client without promising him something we can’t deliver.  Main itni bhi bewaqoof nahin hoon”

The phrase “satisfy a client” triggered an explosion in his mind, as he was assaulted by visions of what Prashant Kelkar might expect in return for granting them such a huge contract.

“Nahin, maine kehdiya to kehdiya.  Aap nahin jaayengi.  Jab team jaarahi hai, to aap ke jaane ki kya zaroorat hai”

She remained perfectly still for a moment then spoke in a voice he had heard from her once before, one as cold as ice “Mr Khurana, main iss company ki fifty one percent ki owner hoon.  Agar main site inspection pe jaana chahti hoon, to main jaaoongi, aap ko chaahe accha lage ya bura”.  With that, she left, closing the door quietly behind her.

For half an hour, he fumed and raged- how dare she throw that at him?  What had he been thinking, giving her the controlling interest in the company?  His first instinct was to phone the lawyers and try and find a way to reclaim his property.  He rejected that as leaving him open to ridicule, then came up with his next plan- he would phone Prashant Kelkar himself and explain that he was taking over the project- surely if having MSK’s wife along for the site inspection was a good  thing, then having MSK himself would be even better.

As he took his phone out of his pocket to phone Mr Kelkar, his gaze fell on the photo sitting on his desk.  It was of Geet and him; he was looking at her as if he could eat her alive, as if he wanted to keep her for his eyes only.  His phone forgotten in his hand, he froze as he realised the real reason he didn’t want her spending time with the client.  He wanted her to spend time with him.  He quickly corrected his thoughts- he didn’t want her to spend time with him, he just didn’t think it was appropriate for his wife to spend time with another man, especially one who might not respect the appropriate boundaries.

Realising he would appear ridiculous if he changed the plans at this point, he decided against phoning Mr Kelkar, but he couldn’t contain his anger at the way she had defied him.  Who cared if she owned fifty-one percent of the company; he was still the boss and she should do what he wanted. (He refused to think about the fact that he was fanning the flames of his own anger simply to avoid thinking about what else he might be feeling).

The lingering anger between them ensured that the drive home was tense and silent; he made his way straight to his home office, leaving her to make her way to their room.  By the time he came upstairs, she had fallen asleep.  He was almost able to completely ignore the tear tracks on her cheeks. Laying down, he pointedly ignored her lying next to him until, after a moment he turned as if compelled to look at her as she lay there.  Something inside him longed to draw her close and hold her as she slept, some part of him craved the feel of her in his arms but as always, he fought down the unruly thoughts; no matter what his body wanted, he wasn’t going to allow her to gain any sort of hold over him.  As he crossed into sleep, he couldn’t help wondering if she already had.

When he woke in the morning, he found his unspoken wishes fulfilled; she lay in his arms.  Her face was buried in his neck, her legs entwined with his, her right arm wrapped around his chest.  The scent of her wafted temptingly in the air making him shiver with need; he froze when she mumbled sleepily when she felt him move.

“Maan, sone dijiye na, aap hamesha itni jaldi jaagte hain”

Forcing himself to draw his arms away from her, he said “Geet”

She snuggled herself closer to him, rubbing her nose into his neck, moulding her body closer to his.

“Ji”

He spoke again, his voice sounding like it was scraping his throat as it emerged “Geet”

She was so close to him that he actually felt her eyes pop open, her lashes caressing him as they moved.  He felt awareness hit her, then she was scrambling away, pulling her dupatta around her as she stood.  Expecting confusion or embarrassment, he got neither; instead she said “Good morning.  Aaj mujhe zara jaldi nikalna hai, site visit pe jaana hai; agar aap mind na karein main driver leke nikalti hoon, aap khud aajaiyyega”

Scrambling to make his voice work, the feel of her still lingering in his mind, he said “Nahin, aap jaaiyye Geet, main aajaaonga.”

She moved towards the wardrobe, seeming not to give him another thought.  With the feel of her warmth still tormenting him and the scent of her lingering in the air, he didn’t want her to leave with anger still between them.

“Geet”

She stopped moving but didn’t turn to look at him.

“Geet, dekhiye, maine shayad kal kuch zyada kehdiya tha.  Mera matlab yeh nahin tha ke aap ko kaam nahin karna aata hai.  Mera sirf yeh matlab tha ke aap ke liye site inspection pe jaana zaroori nahin hai.  It’s very tiring, it’ll be a long day and you don’t have to go there”

Perhaps she recognised his olive branch for what it was, because she turned and looked at him before she spoke “Aap ko meri chinta karne ki zaroorat nahin hai.  Main itni aasaani se thakti nahin hoon.”

She sighed, recognising the truth of his words “Theek hai, dekhiye main bas Mr Kelkar se milke aajaati hoon.  He’ll be expecting me and it wouldn’t give the right impression if I just didn’t turn up.  I’ll go and meet him and introduce him to the site team, then I’ll come back to the office”

Turning back to the wardrobe, she pulled out some clothes then turned towards the bathroom; she stopped when she found him blocking her path.

He put his hand out as if to touch her then stopped, saying simply “Thank you”.

As he made his way to the gym as he did every morning, he couldn’t suppress the feeling of satisfaction at the knowledge that his wife would only be spending a very limited amount of time with Prashant Kelkar.

Fida's Corner : His wife, Mrs. Khurana !!! (Chapter 11)

CHAPTER 11

He woke the next morning to find that he was lying with his head pillowed in her lap.  She was still wearing the same saree as the night before, though her blouse was lying on the bed next to him; as his memory of the night before returned slowly, he recalled untying her doris.

Hard on the heels of that memory came the memory of what happened next.  He remembered the feel of her lips on his, then his anger as he realised she was simply submitting to him.  His head was aching a little, a reminder of the pain that had crippled him last night; as he took in the way he was lying, he realised that she had spent the entire night ensuring that he slept peacefully.

Confused, for such acts of caring had no place in the relationship he had constructed in his mind, he sat up slowly; she woke as she felt him move.  Their eyes met for a moment before he moved away; he felt rather than saw the movement as she wrapped her pallu tightly around her to cover herself.  He kept his back to her as he spoke.

“I don’t need you to sacrifice yourself; I’m not a monster.  I don’t expect the use of your body as payment for accepting you as my wife  Geet, please itna samajhlein.  Main jaanwar nahin hoon.  Whatever your reasons for marrying me may have been, whatever understanding we had between us, whatever your expectations are, I can’t believe that I ever let you think that you had to sleep with me to keep your part of the bargain.”

He heard her draw a breath behind him then she spoke “It’s not like that, I was just trying to.........look, can we just forget what happened last night.  Aap ka headache ab kaisa hai?”

For a moment he wondered whether to let the matter drop or not, but the look on her face told him that now was not the right time to discuss things further.

“Behtar hai; aap ko raat bhar aise baithne ki zaroorat nahin thi”

She smiled, and this time her smile wasn’t filled with anger or bitterness, but instead with an incredible tenderness.

“Aap ko yaad nahin hai, magar kuch din pehle aap bhi raat bhar mujhe aisehi apni baahon mein lekar soye the.  Aapke investigator ne aap ko nahin bataya?”

Before he could say anything, she slid off the bed and into the bathroom, leaving him wondering about the details the investigator hadn’t been able to find.

He tried to summon the anger that was normally so close to the surface, to remind himself that he hadn’t wanted a wife and that she should be grateful that he was agreeing to honour the contract he had entered into, even though he didn’t remember it.  He tried, but failed

Somewhere inside him a little spark of recognition was trying to grow stronger- a feeling that he knew Geet, knew her as if she were part of him.  The initial anger and unmentioned terror over his amnesia had drowned out that spark of recognition, but now that he had begun to come to terms with what had happened to him, that little spark was refusing to remain unacknowledged.

Needing time to think, he changed into his tai-chi clothes and made his way to the gym.  He let the rhythm of the katas flow through him, allowing his mind to empty of all conscious thought.  After a while, he couldn’t ignore it any longer- the feeling he had that perhaps there was more to the story than he could gather simply from the investigator’s report.  As he continued the movements, he thought about the reports and the starkness of the newspaper articles; was it possible that more had happened between them, behind closed doors, than he had previously been willing to contemplate?

He almost wanted to laugh at himself.  Was he actually wondering whether he had ‘fallen in love’ with her.  Love.  A ridiculous emotion, one he had never believed in.  Even as the well-worn internal mockery of love started, another one of his inner voices insisted on making itself heard.  Hadn’t he been the one who had listened to his grandparents’ stories, hadn’t he been the one who had once hoped of finding a true partner in life the way his grandfather had?

His movements grew jerkier as he remembered the moment he had stopped believing in love- the moment he had heard his parents coolly discussing their respective infidelities and how much they hated each other.  His beautiful glittering mother and his dignified father whispering invective at each other whilst hosting the annual Khurana karwa-chauth gathering; telling each other how they needed to get the whole rigmarole over and done with as quickly as possible so that they could go and be with their respective lovers.  He had been thirteen; within six months, his mother was dead and he had a stepmother and a new two-year-old baby brother he hadn’t known about.

From then on, he hadn’t believed in love, hadn’t trusted in something that was so easy to fake and so easy to replicate.

As he remembered his parents, his resolve firmed—of course he wasn’t in love with his wife, because love didn’t exist.  He was attracted to her, dammit-lusted after her, he even admired her, but he didn’t love her.  And she didn’t love him- she was probably irritated that she wasn’t able to bring him under her control as she had expected to be able to, and the kiss tonight had been another attempt to gain the upper hand.

Coming to the end of his katas, he stood silent for a moment, Geet’s tender smile filling his mind.  He was willing to wait till she realised that she wasn’t going to win the contest of wills between them- he’d made his move, now she was going to have to make hers.  He was willing to wait until she’d made it clear what she wanted from this marriage.

(And if part of him wondered what made him persist, why he didn’t just give up on the marriage and return to his bachelor freedom, he suppressed it- he was married, Geet was his wife and that was just the way things were going to be).

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ to be continued........

Some actors we still fondly remember: Rajeev Khandelwal

Rangmunch.TV did a poll this week to find out, which is that one actor that you want to see on TV again and our article today is based on what the fans have voted for.

Rajeev's role as Sujal in Kahin to hoga shot him to instant fame. His chemistry with co-star was such a huge hit with the audience that they couldnt see Kashish with anyone else. Rajeev is considered to be not only good looking but also a man who has a mind of his own. After opting out of Kahin to hoga, he did time bomb a short TV series and was also seen in an important role before he forayed into movies. His movie Aamir was well received and people took notice of this talented actor.

We saw Rajeev once more on Television with the Sach ka Saamna Series on Star Plus where he was seen posing dicy personal questions to the contestants on the show. It was perhaps the charming face of this actor that put the contestants at ease as he would convincingly ask them even the most sensitive questions that would lead up to the revelations on the show.

Rajeev hasnt acted in a Television show for more than 4 years now, but people still remember all the roles he has enacted. He is one of those actors that has an amazing screen presence and carries an aura that automatically adds finesse. Sujal and Kashish's romance was the start-off of the hit office romance stories, from where many other shows like Kitni Mohabbat Hai-Season 1 and Geet-Hui Sabse Parayi followed suit. Rajeev has always been associated with the variety of roles he picked. Whether it was his role as a cop in Time Bomb, or Captain Rajveer Singh Shekhawat on Left Right Left, he has always left a mark and has only added fans to his list. Rajeev's fans range and hail from different age groups.

Rajeev is surely missed on Television, and fans would surely love to see him in a full fledged role soon. He has scored maximum number of votes in our poll. We wish Rajeev all the very best with his Film and TV career and hope we get to see him on screen soon.

We will come back with another actor soon!

Geet: “Love is a promise; a souvenir, once given never forgotten” ~ John Lennon.

Maaneet’s love story has always been a roller coaster ride. We have all rejoiced in their happiness as well as cried seeing them in pain. Their “reel” emotion always affected the “real” people, and hence today was no different.

“Dadima se badkar is duniya mein mere liye koi nahi hai. Dadima hai toh mein hoon.” Maan once told these words to Geet when they met at the Dargah & since then Geet never forgot this truth. Therefore, when Nandini tells Geet about Dadima’s vow, she decides to break her fast & hence comes to Maan & convinces him to do so for the well-being of Dadima.

Nothing is more painful than the state of helplessness.  Maan realizes how much his behaviour is hurting Geet & his family but he is unable to come to terms with the reality & accept Geet as his wife. Even though Maan has always been a man of few words, but today he felt the need to open up to Geet. He felt he owed her an explanation. “Mere liye toh yeh sirf ek kahani hai.” Every word that he spoke only showed his vulnerability. He sincerely wished he could help himself & Geet by remembering her. However, one could also see Geet undergo immense pain seeing her Maan suffer, as he put forth his anxiety. She understands the turmoil he has been going through ever since the truth of their relationship has been revealed to him.

The worst thing is holding on to someone who doesn’t want to be held on to.~Anon

Geet’s loves Maan more than anything else in this world and there is nothing that she would like better than to hold on to him forever.  But she realizes no matter how much her heart may break, she has to let him go. Her happiness dwells upon seeing her Maan happy, & hence she decides to relieve Maan of the pressure. Geet reassures Maan, that going forward he does not have to carry the burden of their relationship, until he feels the urge to do so.

Love is blissful, but only when you are in love and the person, with whom you are in love, loves you in return, other wise it can be extremely painful. Maan’s loss of memory has not only erased traces of Geet’s existence from his life, but has also deprived her of his love. Nevertheless, Geet loves Maan & that is more than enough for her to believe that someday her Maan will remember his Mishty & she will patiently wait for that moment till her last breath.

“Apart of you has grown in me. And so you see, it's you and me. Together forever, never apart, may be in distance but never in heart.”~ Anon
