A Note of Thanks from The Rangmunch Bunch!!!

As Rangmunch.TV has crossed over One Lac page views in a span of three months, we would like to THANK everyone who has been a part of our journey and has made this possible. We also felt that now is the time to introduce you to the TEAM of Rangmunch.TV who have contributed in achieving this milestone.

With this you can now put a face to the writers whose work you read on Rangmunch.TV!

Niharika Vidya Sagar: I still remember it was a Sunday afternoon, Navya, Swati, Niti and I were on a conference call !!!  Amidst loads of other things we talked of, all of us were stuck on one thing, we all passionately felt about TV shows in general ! This is when we decided we wanted to bring to you that side of Television and Entertainment, one hasn’t perhaps seen before. We don’t know how far we have succeeded in the same, but we are glad, we have made our attempt and beginning.  The whole behind-the-scenes story is such a fascination to me; I drove the other three crazy, and forced them to like it too!!! And hey guess what? They don’t just like it now, they love it !!!  And then, Neeru came on board, an International Show fan-we made our baby wear those clothes as well, and she looked like an angel in them !! I take the liberty to speak for all, and can vouch for the fact that we have only learnt every single day!!  At times I feel, my dear friends out here get sick of the amount I talk, since there is so much to share … And as we learn, we want to share the same with all of you.. “Wo kya hai hai .. ladki hoon, pet main koi baat bachti nahi… “ Thank You so much for giving us the page views you did! Keep viewing us more and we will add more colors to Rangmunch in the days to come. Loads of love and hugs.

Navyanka Varma: "Serendipity" is what comes to mind when i think of Rangmunch and  the friends I made on this blog. Niha, who has been there in my life for forever now, Swati whom I  have a fun filled connection with, Neeru who is like the fog horn , guiding us to the new pathways and Niti, who's intense writing I fell in love with . All  have touched my life  every way possible. Rangmunch has become very dear to my heart. The conception of this blog from start to finish  has been very memorable. The equation I share with  my team is amazing ,TOUCH WOOD for that! All I can say is that its been “A walk to remember." I wish Rangmunch all the best and thank you all for making it what it is today .

Swati Ghosh: 17th July 2011, When we started Rangmunch.TV, I had my own share of apprehensions but a BIG THANKS to all you wonderful Readers out there who stood by us and gave us One Lac page views in a span of 3 months. As much as I am elated to see Rangmunch.TV achieve its first milestone, I also  realise that our efforts would not have got paid off without your love, support, and best wishes. Your comments and words of appreciation is what motivates and inspires each one of us to put our best foot forward with regards to generating ideas and formulating articles. Thank you for following the Rangmunch Blog on a regular basis and patiently reading our write-ups. Its my humble request to each and every one of you, please continue to extend your love and support to Rangmunch team so that we can continue to bring forth Fascinating  news and facts from the World of Entertainment to the best of our ability.

Last but not the least, Thank you Niharika, Navya, Niti and Neeru for always being there as a Friend, Philosopher and Guide. This journey would not have been so exciting and fulfilling without all you guys help and support. "Together we  can and we will."  With lots of Love and Best Wishes.

Niti Vaidya: They say girls just love to talk and discuss. We could have done that over a cup of coffee. But , we thought otherwise. Together we walked coming from different paths towards a common dream - television, making our passion, our profession. Though I still haven't have had a chance to actively be a part of Rangmunch but my inner connect with it is as strong.  Dreamer, that I am , it gives me a huge high to see my friends working hard and achieving huge success in a short span. Rangmunch to me is a token of love for the unbreakable bond I share with  each of my friends here. Cheers!! Good luck to us for many more such milestone moments.

Neeraja Unni: I have been associated with Rangmunch for over a month now, and it has been a pleasure interacting and working alongside Swati, Niharika, and Navya, who believe in honest hard work and also believe that it can be achieved while having loads of fun. Scripting the brand new International Segment is interesting, keeps me on my toes, and gives me an opportunity to write to my heart’s content about shows that I love watching. It’s a win-win situation for me.

Rangmunch is a bridge (to connect the fans to the television industry and vice versa) that is being meticulously built with lots of love and care. We are putting in our best efforts to also bring to you, shows that you will carry with you forever as memories.
An achievement of One-lakh page views in a short span of three months is just the beginning. We are just getting warmed up and we have many more milestones to achieve, examples to set. This cannot be done without your constant support and encouragement.
A heartfelt gratitude to all those wonderful people from the industry and the fans (you guys are the best!) who have regularly found time to not only read our articles but have also been kind enough to give us your valuable feedback in the form of comments, requests, and criticism. Your guidance is most precious to us. Bow to thee!

We would also like to thank everyone from the Television Industry who have not only encouraged us with their kind words and best wishes, but  have also blessed us. We hope to continue to do our best and act as a platform between the fans and those faces that give them their favourite shows!

There are millions of TV portals for television actors that publicize their lives and characters in any particular show. But Rangmunch has gone a step ahead by not only publicising actors but also the people behind the camera who play an integral part in the creation of a show. Really looking forward to a lot of gossip along with creative discussions. All the best guys.

Sukirti Kandpal Shoots despite illness!

All of us love our favorite characters on screen and cant do without them even for a day. The actors also on their part do their bit, in bringing us the best they can. When we fall ill, we obviously rest. But the Actors in the TV land have a different story to tell. The compelling tracks and the constant presence of the leads forces actors to shoot round the clock.

The latest victim of the same being, Sukirti Kandpal, who plays the role of Pia in Pyar ki yeh ek Kahani on StarOne. Sukirti, has been detected with a kidney stone, and is in acute pain, but she continues to shoot. When we got to know of the news we sent our best wishes to Sukirti to which she promptly responded "Thank you for the wishes, the pain is unbearable, and I will take an off if things get worse." For now she is being a strong girl.

We at Rangmunch wish Sukirti a speedy recovery and hope she gets time to rest and recuperate!  After all we don't want pain troubling this bubbly girl for too long!

International Segment - HUMSAFAR, A Journey you wouldn't want to miss!

Pakistani Dramas have always given us some of the best memories of our lives related to television. ‘Dhoop Kinare’ and ‘Tanhaiyyan’ are two that instantly come to mind when we think of quality television in terms of substance, execution, and direction.

We once again go beyond borders to introduce to you a drama that will lure you in with its depth, its simplicity, and characters that come alive on screen with the narrative.

Humsafaris a gem of a show that is presently being aired once a week @ 8 pm, Saturdays on Hum TV in Pakistan. It is an adaptation of a famous novel by the same name by Farhat Ishtiaq.

5 Reasons why Humsafar is a must-watch:

1) The Story/Script

Simple, thought provoking, and realistic, the story grips us from the beginning leaving us to ponder on these questions-

Have you ever found yourself torn between your wishes and those of your loved ones?

Do you have a best friend you absolutely adore and cannot do without but are not in love with?

Has a tragedy forced you to succumb to the pressures of life, and not given you a fair chance to live it the way you wanted?

Can you form an everlasting unbreakable bond with the very person you initially did not want in your life?

Lastly, how fragile is that bond you so painstakingly form with that one person you call your life?

How do you deal with these realities and which path do you carve for yourself with your decisions forms the crux of the story.

The story follows the journey of Khirad and Ashar as a couple, who are pressured into marriage due to the untimely death of Khirad’s mother.

Khirad is a self-respecting beautiful young woman living with her Ammi in their humble home at Hyderabad (Pakistan). Her Mamoun, Baseerat, a rich businessman lives in Karachi with his wife, and his son, Ashar.

Ashar is a suave Yale returned well-educated well-mannered gentleman, who manages his father’s business. He has a best friend in Sara, his mother’s niece. Unknown to him, Sara loves Ashar, and wishes to eventually get married to him. With both their mothers approving their union, Sara in her wildest of dreams, could not have imagined the turn the tale would take one day.

Khirad’s mother is soon detected with cancer and calls Baseerat for help. Baseerat brings his sister and niece to Karachi to provide her with the best treatment for cancer. When Khirad’s mother realizes the fatality of the situation, she requests her brother to get Khirad married before she dies. Ridden with guilt at having neglected his sister’s welfare until now, he promptly decides to get Khirad married to his son.

None of them are happy about this union and Sara takes it the hardest having loved Ashar immensely for so long. Ashar on the other hand is shocked at Sara’s revelation, and is torn between his wish to not see his friend heart-broken and his father’s plea for him to get married to Khirad to ease his dying sister’s angst regarding her daughter’s future.

You have to watch the show to see how the story progresses from here on.

2) The Characters:

The lead pair of Humsafar, Khirad and Ashar has author-backed roles. Khirad is someone you will fall in love with. She is shown as an individual who has a strong sense of who she is and what she wants. Ashar is a handsome dude who has his priorities right. Sara is one of the most pivotal characters, strong yet subtle in her manipulations making her an interesting watch.

All the characters in the drama are well etched, each having a role to play in moving the story forward without a hitch.

3) The Cast:

The ensemble cast of Humsafar boasts of some of the talented names in the Pakistani Television Industry.
Fawad Khan as Ashar

Fawad Khan of the blockbuster-hit film, Khuda kay liye, essays the role of Ashar so convincingly, that he IS Ashar. He is tailor-made for the role, and he speaks with his eyes, which is one of his biggest assets.

Mahira Khan as Khirad
Mahira Khan is stunning as Khirad. Her face spells character and leaves an indelible mark on the minds of the viewers and she captures the viewer’s hearts too from her very first frame in Humsafar.

Naveen Waqar as Sara

Naveen Waqar owns the role of Sara to the hilt. She plays it with such honesty that even though she has shades of grey and one wishes to dislike her for her intentions and subtle manipulations, one cant but empathize with her state.

Atiqa Odho, one of the famous personalities in Pakistani television, plays Ashar’s mother.

4) The Direction:

Words would not be enough to extol the way the show has been directed. Sarmad Khoosat has weaved magic without a magic wand. Every scene tells a story and one would not want to miss even a single frame of it. He and his team have proved that a story needs no frills to be told, it just has to be told with honesty, integrity, and dedication to the craft.

An Indian Director's Take on Humsafar:

Waseem Sabir, is a renowned Director on Indian Television who has directed  shows like Saat Phere, Remix, Maryada and recently Dharampatni on Imagine TV. Waseem not only bonds with his actors but also connects with his characters which helps him to get the best on screen. He also has an eye for details. Rangmunch.TV sincerely thanks Mr. Waseem Sabir for agreeing to write about Humsafar, the show, from the point of view of a Director who has the knowledge and the expertise to do so.

"Firstly, I would like to thank Swati Ghosh for introducing me to Humsafar.

As Indians, we have known the Pakistani TV industry through shows like Dhoop kinarey, Ankahee, Tanhaiyan, Zeenat and many more. Yes its a limited knowledge, but am sure a lot of us who are hooked on to Indian television wont even know about Pakistani TV because we do not have the access like Pakistan has to our shows, sad but its a fact.

As a person from the Indian TV industry, we believe in one thing, CONTENT IS KING that means writing plays a very important role in making a TV show. Coming back to Humsafar, when I saw the first episode, I won’t deny the beauty of the heroine got me hooked - the simplicity, nude makeup, and simple styling.

About the show, I would say its a very simple show, simple characters, very basic in short takings and as a maker, all I would say is, that’s the most difficult thing to do - Make a simple Show and hats off to the makers of Humsafar. The characters are so real that you connect with them instantly. It has fantastic sound track. It is an old Ghazal by the renowned Sufi singer, Abida Parveen. The scenes are slow but the story just moves with every scene, so you do not get bored even in a long scene because the layering of the characters gets you involved in every moment. There are many scenes where there is not even a single dialogue for like 3-4 minutes but the moments are beautifully captured. It is a must watch show for everyone.

I so wish such shows with so much simplicity and closer to realism are made in India."

5) The Music:

Last but definitely not the least, the background scores that blend in with the scenes and the soul-stirring title track sung by Pakistani singer, Qurat-ul-Ain Balouch sets the tone for a great drama.

Adaavatein theen..

Taghaaful thaa…
Ranjishein thi Magar… Bicharne walay mein sab kuch tha
Bewafai na thi ….
Ke dhoop chaun ka aalam raha
Judai na thi …

This weekly drama on Hum TV, gives you enough palpitations (of the good kind), and recuperating time of one week, before you get ready for another dose of this heart-wrenching saga. The pathos in the story lies in its very own title track that goes …

Woh humsafar thaa magar
uss sey humnawai na thi…
Kay dhoob chaaon ka
aalam raha judai na thi…
woh humsafar tha ….

After the lines of the song have sunk in, you know it’s no one’s fault when it comes to the ways of the heart!

Hope you enjoy watching it as much as we have and we are thrilled to share this awesome show with you all.

You can catch the updates and links on the Humsafar official fb page - https://www.facebook.com/HumsafarOnHumTv

Thanks A Lot Everyone: Nissar Parvez!

When you are a master at your art, and are loved for the same, it takes a lot of courage for one to take a risk and enter an arena that is untread. For Nissar Parvez, who has delivered hit shows like Dil Mill Gayye, Miley Jab Hum Tum, and Geet-Hui Sabse Parayi, it wouldn’t have been hard to don the mantle of a Director yet again in another project! But the man chose to think and act differently, just the way he does with all his shows!

When fans learnt of Nissar producing Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon on StarPlus, they were rest assured, this was definitely going to be something to watch out for. Nissar chose to move out of his comfort zone, replaced the Director's cap with that of a Producer and decided to explore his fortunes with a new venture in a new role. Needless to say, the risk has paid off, with Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon having successfully completed 100 episodes today and also reaching the No. 2 spot on Star Plus recently!

We congratulated Nissar over the double victory and here is what he said to the viewers...  "Hey everyone, this really wouldn't have been possible without the immense love that you as audience have shown towards our shows. You've have seen it, lived it, and loved it."

He  further went on to say "This one really feels special because scoring a century seemed very challenging keeping in mind the tough competition we had in front of us. Gul, Rajesh and I had to literally rack and put our brains together to bring the show out the way we had all visualized it. I must say, it has not been easy. Now as we look back, we gladly smile at all those maddeningly tedious days. We are now gearing up and looking forward to another century, because we hate to get out. We are all fighters and we love being that.”

“At this point, I would really want to mention a few names without whose support, this journey wouldn't have been possible.

Lata, Megha, Ajit, Anand, Pushpa, Shadaab, Kiran, Alok - These are the names of some of the people who silently work at the back end. To me they are the real heroes without whose support, you would not be watching this show on time each day.”

“Thanks a lot everyone. Keep watching.”

We at Rangmunch.TV, wish Nissar Parvez and his entire team Good Luck and hope they continue to entertain the viewers.

We started shooting for Iss Pyaar Ko....in flat 8 days- Rajesh Chadha!

Rajesh Chadha, the Producer (Panglosean Entertainment) of Iss Pyar Ko Kya Naam Doon, is in the seventh heaven with his show touching a century  . The show has become a craze with the youth with the amazing chemistry shown between Barun and Sanaya who play Arnav and Khushi on the show. The freshness, the innocence and the mass appeal drama has made it No. 2 in the TRP list. We at Rangmunch contacted and congratulated  Mr. Chaddha  on having touched this milestone and asked him how he feels about the show , the cast, the crew and overall euphoria .
"I'm extremely happy and proud of my team and my viewers for having touched 100 episodes today. Its always an honor to be appreciated . The audience have given us much love in accepting this wonderful story. I always thank my team before I thank anyone else. Without them , nothing would have been possible. Let me tell you that this show came through in flat  8 days. We got confirmation to start the show on 7th April and and by 15th April we started shooting at an outdoor location with choppers. In seven days if we could  pull off such a start to the show, its because of the team I have. The patience and all hard work they have put in this is  commendable. People tend to leave under pressure, but my team stuck on with each other from then till now."

"One person I would sincerely like to thank is "Nissar Parvez"Nissar is a great guy. He helped us immensely in setting  up the show in the start. He is the one Director I really look up to. He is an ace when it comes to such intense subjects. The writers also have put in their efforts in coining different phrases and lines for the actors. The different departments have worked more than their share and gave it a No 2 position in such a short span."
"One person who has pleasantly shocked me is "Sanaya". I was a bit skeptical initially as she had worked in Mile Jab Hum Tum, where she played a diametrically opposite character. I was  with  Endemol when that show aired. I was not sure if she could do Khushi convincingly but she has gotten into the skin of the character so beautifully, that its  truly amazing. She is a stunner and has given more than herself to this character. The jalebi bit has its own history too. In fact my mom is diabetic and when so much jalebi is shown, she complains of how she cant have it, and we have only added on to her craving levels"
“It feels great to touch such heights in such a short span and we promise to give more to the viewers in the future.”
We at Rangmunch congratulate the team of IPKKND once more on completion of 100 episodes.
CHEERS Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon....!!!!
