Diwali Dil(li)-walon Ki!!!

Rangmunch.TV brings to you some fond memories of Diwali celebrations shared by some of the hottest men of Small Screen!!

Karan Tacker aka Viren in Ek Hazaron Mein Meri Behna Hai

My Dad is from Delhi, but we have been staying in a nuclear family in Mumbai for last 25 years now. However, since my extended family, my grandparents are from Delhi, so we keep going back every time during Diwali. You get that mitti ka diya, usme, I think sarson ka tel hota hai .That whole smell of mitti and sarson is a very firm reminder of Diwali. Even when I light it in Bombay, it just reminds me of the time we as kids used to light the whole house in Delhi with diyas. Yeh sab bachon ke kaam hote the. Jaise he andhera hota tha, hum sab jaake diye jalate the. We had huge house in Delhi, because of joint family and all, so it felt really good doing all activities together. We used to have a huge Diwali dinner at my Dadi’s house. I have very fond memories of that. One delicacy that I look forward to and is a must during Diwali is Jhonny Walker Black Label, provided one can handle it (says laughingly).

Mohnish Behl aka Dr. Ashutosh in Kuch Toh Log Kahenge

I wish my family's happiness this Diwali. I think one should burst crackers only for enjoyment and not for competition and status issue. Wishing all my fans a very  happy and  prosperous Diwali.Have a safe Diwali, and take care of yourself and your family .

Sameer Soni aka Kunal Chopra in Parichay

I celebrate Diwali with my family in Delhi and this year is no different. Diwali is one such occasion where all family and friends get together and enjoy spending time with each other.I wish all my fans a happy Diwali and may there be joy and happiness during this divine festival.

Samir Sharma aka Dev in Geet-Hui Sabse Parayi

Generally we celebrate Diwali with our entire family, but this time my parents are not coming down, so its going to be just my wife and me. I probably will be shooting all day tomorrow as well. We may visit friends and have a quiet dinner later. The best childhood memories I have of Diwali are those that we celebrated when we were in Delhi. We used to live in a colony where there would be around sixty-seventy families and we kids would get together and burst loads of crackers, and then cousins would also come over. Things are different now however after moving to Mumbai, mainly because I think I have out grown the phase of wanting to burst crackers and spending money on the same (laughs). I wish everyone a very safe and a pollution free Diwali. The whole idea behind Diwali is celebrating the victory of Good over Evil, so always keep that in mind, and don't forget to enjoy yourself!!!

Rangmunch.TV wishes all its readers and their loved ones a very happy and safe Diwali!!!!

Kuch Meetha,Thodi Yaari.. Dher Saari Khushi.. Iss Diwali...!! Happy Diwali!!

On the occasion of Diwali, Rangmunch.TV chooses to take you down the memory lane! This time, into the world of another form of entertainment, education and innovation!

Most channels and shows, run on TRPS, and we often wonder what these three big words mean! Well, we will not get into explaining that to you for now, but would like to surely tell you, the TRPs of a show, have a direct connection to the ads aired during that show....So this time around don't fail to see what kind of ads air during the course of your favorite show !!!!

Ad-film makers are creators in themselves, as they hold the challenge of telling a story in less than a minute!! Over the years, ad-film makers have outdone themselves especially during the time of Diwali airing thought provoking, emotion-invoking ads. We at Rangmunch decided it was a good time for you to smile as you take a look at them and reflect once more!

Lets go a few years back, and remember the little child who decides to walk away from home since he is upset with his family ... A plate of Dhara oil Jalebi's is all it takes to lure him back ! Years later, he has a competitor in Khushi Kumari Gupta of Iss Pyaar Ko Kyaa Naam Doon, who loves gorging on Jalebis the same way !!!

During your years of growing up, your friends form an integral part of your life. Friends sometimes come in and go as you live through the phases of School, College and work .. The memories you make as you go along, are associated with the place and time spent!! This Diwali, Coke aired an ad, that pays tribute to all those things that have been instrumental in making friendships what they are and cementing them !!! A heart touching short tale that is sure to get you moist eyed! Thinking of the TV Land, the only bunch that comes close to being a part of this ad are Anant, Navya and their bunch of College friends !!!

Are we fast moving into a world where we have no time for the very people we love and care for? Does work tie us down so much that and obligate us to take them for granted? Do adopt a casual attitude towards people who are much older and expect them to relate to our mechanical ways? In the days of Facebook and Blackberry Messengers, do we disconnect with our parents and elders because we cant relate to them anymore?

Cadbury, brings in a heart touching mini tale between a mother and working son! This one surely did get Rangmunch teary eyed and made us go through a guilt trip as well, at the number of times we get annoyed when our mothers don't understand what saving a file means or when our grandfather's innocently, yet enthusiastically want to know what internet is all about ...I miss my grandad alot, for he always taught me as long as he was around.. This ad is for all those dear ones we love, but don't care to give enough time...Our TV Land has always inculcated strong value systems, and we unfortunately cant think of anyone who has dared to misbehave or stray at this point in time ! So kudos to the same !!!

Today film stars, also promote their movies through advertisements, and the king Khan Shahrukh is no different. He picks his nerolac ad, as the best choice to promote his Diwali release RaOne. Whether this will lead to an increase in the sale of paints or draw people to watch the movie in the theaters is something that only time will tell ...

There is a tradition of buying gold and jewellery during the time of Diwali's Dhanteras as a mark of prosperity and luck! As Preity Zinta advertises for D'Damas, a perfect Television Counter Part for the same could be our dear Mami ji from Iss Pyaar Ko Kyaa Naam Doon, who loves adorning herself with an entire jewellery store if the need arises!!!

Before we sign off and allow you to celebrate your day with your family and loved ones, we wish you a very happy Diwali, and hope that you have a prosperous year ahead! May there be celebrations, grandeur  lighting and joy not just today but in the entire year to come !!! The LG ad promises just that and more ..The Yeh Rishta Kya Keh Laata hai family is a perfect choice to air this ad since they believe in celebrating life as a whole!!

A very very Happy Diwali from the Entire Rangmunch Team !!!

Indian Television: Star One Goes Bonkers With Its Revamp Mantra to Star Desh

If CHANGE is a MANTRA then Star One seems to be at the forefront of change and that too constant change. The revolving door is very much a fashion at this Star TV's Hindi GEC channel with a revamp on the cards every single year ever since its inception.

Unable  to climb the popularity chart or stick to the audience pie it has garnered for itself, Star One seems to believe that shedding its kilos of overweight in terms of outdated programming is the method to the madness of Indian Television's Hindi GEC's and will help gain them a foothold in the Television Viewership Ratings(TVR) that TAM and INTAM bring out on Indian Television.

Sadly, Star One seems to miss the bus every time with its multitude of revamps still keeping it well below the 50 TVR points while their parent network GEC Star Plus seems to be the top of the TVR and TRP leader board. No matter what it does, Star One seems to fail in its mission impossible of capturing the audience or also in its reach and availability.

Predominantly started as an urban youth channel, Star One started to fall prey to the vagaries of the changing domestic landscape of Indian television that is all about dripping diamonds from the ears and bucketloads of tears from the eyes and mummies and aunties stuck to TV for lifetimes.

Sadly, this is not the case with Star One. It's niche has always been and will always be an urban net savvy audience who if  miss watching it on Television will switch on their computers, laptops, and get online to catch their favorite episode on Star Player, youtube, desitv, india-forums, apni community or the plethora of web sites who've made it their business to capture or video grab the episodes and provide links or port them on to their web sites.

Today even Sony Entertainment Television (SET) that has made big progress in the past few months has realized the importance of the net savvy women audience of this 21st century and is trying to capture and keep the consumer happy and tie-in to their brand by making available all their episodes on their official online web portal.

To keep these net savvy audience engaged, channels have recognized the importance of keeping this consumer base engaged even when they are not beaming the episodes live by investing in online discussion forums, as well as providing a well laid out archive of episodes to revisit.

Star One always seems to start off things with a bang that pilfer out over a period of time, which could be due to several factors. Programming is not the only issue here, it is also a basic lack of understanding of their emerging consumer base and their evolving entertainment needs that instead of consolidating and growing their current or existing consumer base seems to always search for a new and untapped customer market.

By clubbing themselves with the vision and dynamics of their parent Hindi GEC Star Plus, Star One or Star Desh is going to lose a huge fanbase that is slowly shifting to Sony Entertainment Television that has realized the huge potential of this consumer base and is capitablizing on this urban and emerging new woman and youth.

Star TV, Star One or Star Desh will miss the bus if they do not realize the golden opportunities that are just opening up on the Indian Television firmament with the new woman, and youth that are e-empowered and internet savvy while also give the television set a go.

Happy Anniversary to Maryaada!!

In today’s day, Television industry is not only competitive but is also very uncertain. Every month Channels and Production Houses launch new shows and hopes that they will get appreciated by the viewers in the form of TRPs. But there have been instances when shows have gone off air due to low TRPs and both Channel and Production Houses have borne the brunt.

In the given scenario when a show successfully completes an year and continues to grip the audiences with its story and performances, then one definitely needs to commend the entire cast and crew of the show for their dedication and hard work.

Maryada...Lekin Kab Tak on Star Plus is one of the most powerful  shows  to be aired, with strong story line in combination with great acting skills. The show depicts the journey of four strong willed women with their trials, tribulations, lies and deceit who finally go on to restore their faith in one another without crossing the line of honour and respect. The direction is highly intense with strong issues that have been addressed with sensitivity.

On 18th October 2011, Maryada Lekin Kab Tak successfully completed an year and we at Rangmunch.TV would like to congratulate the entire Cast and Crew for their team work and hope to see the show achieve many more milestones in the days to come.

We have also got in touch with a few members of the cast and crew who  shared their experiences of working in a show like Maryada.

Vishwajeet Pradhan (Brahmanand Jhakhar):Maryada in its present avatar though not as bold as it was initially intended to be, has broken fresh ground, struck a chord with the audiences all over the world, spoken about subjects hitherto considered taboo for the family audience. Its been a roller coaster journey till now. Keep loving Maryada and continue to love to hate Brahmanand Jhakhar.

Indrani Halder (Devyani): Thanks to Star Plus for making such a wonderful show and congrats to all the team members for their hard work. Now we have just completed one year. I hope we will rock more and audience will be more happy with the show...Maryada.
Vindhya Tewari (Vidya): This one year has been so magical aur kaise beet gaya pata hi nahi chala. I feel that ye kal ki hi baat hai but one long year actually passed away. I still remember the journey from the first day of the telecast till today. I am so glad that i am a part of this beauiful project. This show will always be very close to my heart as it has given me an opportunity to play such a beautiful role like Vidya and I have got so much love its unexplainable. I want my fans to bless and love this show more and more. Maryada rocks...cheers!!!

Waseem Sabir (Director): It so happened, one night got a call from Meesha Gautam one of the creatives of the show saying “we makin a show for star and we would like u to do it”. So I was there in the office taking a narration with Deeya (producer) Damini Shetty (writer) and Meesha , the first thing I asked “are you sure its gonna be that BOLD?” They said “yes.” I was like wow, Yes lets do it! I walked down the stairs and thought to myself that I would have not done the show if my mum was alive (bold show hai bhai ) lol. The first we did was made a pilot episode which was like an episode where all the characters were revealed. The first scene was with Kamya Punjabi and Vishwajeet Pradhan. Worked with them for the very first time, but all went well the ice was broken and we shot a fantastic scene which had the maximum amount of layers, then the second happened where I had to shoot with Indrani Halder. For me it was again a benchmark coz I was directing a veteran like her who is a national award winner. The pilot was made and delivered and the verdict was out. I got a call from someone in the channel wont name for obvious reasons saying dude u have rocked it buddy way to go. The show got the final approval and we had to start shooting. The show got me the recognition as a director FINALLY. Rest is history. I can write a never ending blog about Maryaada. Maryada would not have been possible without ....Deeya,Damini,Meesha,Raj,Manjari,Anurag,Baisakhi,Vineet Sapru (the DOP), Hamawand, my entire Direction Dept (Puneet, Anil, Rohit) the associate creative head Pooja, and specially the Actors. Hats off to all to say a yes to such a show and giving their 200% during crises where we had to shoot for like 3 days non stop, the first maha episode.

Manjari Mukul (Creative Head): Hi to our viewers! First of all thank you so much for your love and support. Without you all Maryaada success would not have been possible. We have completed a successful journey of one year on 18th Oct 2011. The journey was very intresting and full of beautiful memories. The outdoor shoot in Chandigarh was an awesome experience and I am blessed to be a part of such a diffrent and amazing show with beautifull people around. Our team is just like a family, eating together, enjoying, laughing, sharing each others problems etc. Would want to take names of some most important people of my team, Deeya mam,Tony  Sir,Damini mam, Raaj Sir,Hamavand Sir,Rajat Sir,Waseem Sir,Vineet Sapru, Imtiaz Sir, Iqbal Sir. Nilamber Sir,Astha,Tapasya, Dimpi (Star channel people) our whole cast, ufff!!! there are so many names which is not possible to take. I have learnt a lot of new things from them and have got a lot of different experinces while doing Maryaada. At last thanks to my team members, luv u all. Hope we always live up to your expections. Thanks once again.

Kamiya Punjabi (Uttara): Maryada is every women’s story. It is about what every woman goes through in her life. Its about your identity, your self respect, your emotions, your happiness, your tears. Maryada harr ek aurat ke adhikaar ki kahaani hai, and I am happy and proud that we succeeded in showing the mirror to the world through Maryada. Maryada is a fact, face it! Accept it! Fight for it!
Iqbal Rizvi (Director): Maryaada is a fabulous show that goes beyond the conventional daily soap. It lays a lot of emphasis on nuances and conveys the unspoken. It is a challenging show to direct as shot taking is of a different style. We have tried to keep the show classy and have been successful at that. The ratings have reflected that. The cast and crew have been very instrumental in the success of the show. All have gone beyond themselves to give a good product and that shows. The relationship on the sets is great and there is great harmony, a very important reason why maryaada has worked is the tandem between the people who are executing and the creative team who are writing. We are constantly briefed and are on the same page,I wish the Maryaada team great success and may they continue to rock.

Vineet Sapru (Director of Photography): Maryada journey was full of drama, action, emotion, laughter and experiences. The most memorable part was the outdoor shoot in Chandigarh. Thanks to our entire team who were very supportive from day one. A special thanks to our viewers. Lots of love n Wshes, Vineet Sapru.

Raaj Shetty (Creative Director): Thank you so much for appreciating and giving us all the the support to make Maryada what it is. This day would not be possible without you all. Thank you once again.

We hope the team of Maryaada continues to entertain the viewers and win more hearts in the days to come!!
